Delaware Man Arrested After Discovery Of Pot Field
NEWARK, Del. (CBS 3) ― Police have made an arrest after discovering a field of marijuana in New Castle County.
Sam Blankenship, 56, is facing charges of manufacturing marijuana, intent to deliver, possession of firearms and related offenses after he was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 9.
The Northern Delaware Drug Task Force, made up of members of narcotics officers from County and State Police, received a tip call about a marijuana growing field near the Timberlane Trailer Park in Newark.
Officers discovered 14 large plants in the field and arrested Blankenship after setting up undercover surveillance of the area.
Inside Blankenship's home, police seized five loaded handguns, one loaded shotgun, three loaded rifles, knives, a stun gun and various marijuana growing paraphernalia.
The total amount of marijuana seized totaled approximately 11 pounds.
Blankenship is being held in Howard Young Prison after failing to post over $770,000 bail.
