I must be the only person out there besides my husband that thinks Moro is just eh.
Normal is a setting on a dryer.
There is a little place off of possum park rd called Tony's Cafe, great italian food. Atilios in Wilmington and the prices are really good. La Casa pasta has always been one of my favorites they have the best crab ravioli's ive ever had.
Tony's opened one of "theirs" over here in Chestnut Hill Shopping Center, on 4. Their food is GOOD. (So is Rudy's, on 896)
Went to Mrs Robinos this past weekend and was unimpressed. I admittedly am particular but I felt that I set my expectations to the proper level - as I was hoping for your typical red gravy South Philly Italian restaurant. As about half the pastas are home made, I ordered one of those, the spaghetti. The sauce/gravy was somewhat sweet but totally uninspired or flavorful. The pasta was overcooked and certainly not al dente (a big no-no in my book). My girlfriend had tortellini alfredo and which was definitely store-bought. The sauce was a little thin for alfredo and lacked any kind of distinguishing yummy flavor. The bread was definitely good. After missing on both the dishes, I'll probably have to find my "Marras" in another place. We'll probably try Atilios (sp?) next and, no before you ask, we're not going to Goodfellas....lol.
I have Never liked Mrs Robinos, never understood how it has stayed in business for this long.
I'll definitely add those to my list!
I went to Toscana in Trolley Square around 6 months ago and batted .500. My meal was good, her angel pasta was a ball of gelatinous goo. Rarely have I sent food back, but that this was one of those times. Decided for the price it wasn't worth trying again and that's why I'm now focusing on old school Italian restaurants. The search is on!
If your on the main street in Middletown and you are headed out on RT 299 towards Rt 1 There's an Italian Restaurant on the right in the first shopping center on the right. I can't remember there name but they have the best Italian pasta around. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it's like going back to Italy. (yes,I've been there)
Mrs. Robino's has awesome gravy!
