Delaware annual plane pull

Anyone who can muster donations and a team of 20 still can join one of Delaware's oddest charity fundraisers, pulling an airplane on a rope.

The 10th Annual Delaware National Guard Plane Pull for Special Olympics is set for Sunday at the Delaware Air National Guard Base near New Castle, starting at 9 a.m.

"Last-minute teams are welcome and so are spectators," said Special Olympics spokesman Jonathan Buzby. "It's free and open to the public -- and it really is quite a sight."

The event, with more than 200 teams over the years, has raised more than $150,000, he said.

More than 30 high school and adult teams from New Castle and Kent counties are expected to participate. High school teams raise at least $250 in donations, while the minimum is $500 for adult teams.

Registrations will be accepted through the end of the day on Friday, Buzby said.

I'm posting this on both plane pull threads...the woman who heads up the second team that I'm pulling for emailed me to remind me to bring i.d. because of the military base thing. Thought I'd mention it on here since it didn't occur to me at all.

I took a nap around 4:00, woke up, drank a lot of water, went back to sleep, got up to go take a leak, drank more water, went back to sleep, got up and had more water... I'm gonna stay up now.

My knee is sore and slightly swollen. It wasn't the pulling that did it in, it was the walk back across that damn mile-long tarmac that finished screwing it up.

It had been bothering me for a couple of weeks, because of the footwear thing, but today was really bad on the way back, I could feel it pop a little every five to ten paces.

I'm taking ibuprofen for it, but methinks Chris may go work alone tomorrow.

PG: He can handle it solo for a couple of days...You have to rest that knee up if not you are going to end up in the Drs' office or emergency room due to the inlfamation...Keep an eye on it for the next couple of days.
