    Garden

Ah spring, when a young mans thoughts turn to the garden this is my first stab at a garden in a few years, the last one didn't turn out so well cause I'm lazy. Ok so the youngest son and I spent the last three days hand digging this 20x40 spot. The soil samples will be done on Monday, and I have brussel sprouts and tomatoes under the grow light inside......

    I heard that Max1, but that's okay I won't tell anybody, LOL
J/K...I think it's great that men get into gardening, my son just started working at the garden center at Walmart and he loves it, even though he would never even water the plants and flowers for me at home...btw great job you and your son did

Cool, I finally got one frickkin hummingbird to show up last year. I hope he told his buddies about the spot over the winter. Other than that, I've got all kinds of birds out the waazoo because of the feeders. Now I have a resident hawk who feeds on them leaving feathers and bird heads everywhere. Maybe that was a little TMI. Good luck with the garden.

    Garden Magic
    This is the garden's magic,
    That through the sunny hours
The gardener who tends it, Himself outgrows his flowers.

He grows by gift of patience,
Since he who sows must know
That only in the Lord's good time
    Does any seedling grow.

    He learns from buds unfolding,
    From each tight leaf unfurled,
    That his own heart, expanding,
Is one with all the world.

He bares his head to sunshine,
    His bending back a sign
Of grace, and ev'ry shower becomes
    His sacramental wine.

And when at last his labors
    Bring forth the very stuff
    And substance of all beauty
    This is reward enough.

America is an idea, but it's an idea that brings with it some baggage, like power brings responsibility. It's an idea that brings with it equality, but equality even though it's the highest calling, is the hardest to reach. The idea that anything is possible, that's one of the reasons why I'm a fan of America. - Bono, Commencement University of Pennsylvania May 17, 2004

    Re: Garden

Lets see a picture man, this is the best time to do work to a lawn

    Heres what to do,
    1. get a spreader and a bag of "scotts weed and feed" if you see a lot of dandelions. then buy the weed and feed that has dandelion control.

    2. Any weeds that are left after the weed and feed application get some roundup and spray them.

    3. Buy a 50lb bag of grass seed, typically what they sell in the stores around here will grow (lowes) or if you really want to get into it go to Sweeny Seed.

    4. Take a hard rake and rake all the bad spots and remove all dead weeds, then throw down the grass seed Note; Put a shitload of seed down I mean cover the ground.

water an inch a week (at least), put a sprinkler out and a small cup in the sprinklers path, when it hits an inch your good

If you need further help call me, you gots mah number

P.S. I know some really good "Turf Geeks" as a matter of fact one of them is a member here, although I dont know her screen name.
