Learn tennis, what's to learn? Hit the ball between the inside white lines when playing singles, and use the entire court when playing doubles, just keep the ball in the lines.
serving can be a paint in the butt though!

Well, having been a serious tennis player for many years, keeping the ball inside the white lines about sums it up. And you're also quite correct about serving. But there's much to be said about the pluses of NOT being able to serve worth a damn.
While it completely minimizes the need to worry about keeping the ball inside the white lines in singles, it also maximizes your chances of being killed by your playing partner in doubles, especially if said partner is anywhere near competent at the sport. But either way, a crapy server rarely has to worry about any sort of "paint" in the butt relative to serving.

I was fairly decent, never really played any organized tennis. But my serve was horrible, started to get pretty decent with serves towards the end of playing, but I'm sure that is long gone by now. Probably haven't played tennis in well over 10 years. I wouldn't mind getting back into it again though, just not enough time for it anymore.
