All I keep hearing is, Nations in a drought, Nations in a drought. Yet my damn grass is still green and I have to mow it every week. Hell it is almost to the point lately that I have to mow it every 3 days. Where the hell is this damn drought that they are speaking of? I know we are not getting much rain, so how in the hell is my grass growing like crazy lately????

I really hope that the "pro-family" contingent keeps showing their support of Chik-Fil-A by eating there en masse. That way I'll have a better chance of eating without the company of bigots and selective fundamentalists when I dine elsewhere. While were at it, maybe someone could find a grocery store for them to support. And a retail store. And a car wash. And a veterinarian. And a laundry mat.

Actually - I'm really liking the sound of this.

    I think so. YMMV.

To me, if someone wants to deny someone a right offered to others based on their sexual orientation, they are a bigot. They are acting on a prejudice that stems from a fear of the unknown and a misunderstanding of how what other people do in their families will negatively affect them.

If someone is against gay marriage, they shouldn't marry someone of their own gender. But, why prevent others from doing so when it won't affect you in any way, shape, or form?

Truthfully my view on Chik-Fil-A is the same as that of the Boy Scouts. They are a business that has the right to believe whatever they want and to say whatever they want. I'm not jumping on the "ban them from Boston" bandwagon, but it's not a place I want to give my money to. I think I've been there a handful of times my entire life, so they're not losing anything on me.

And, also...the Google car just drove past my house. It would figure that we haven't mowed the lawn in like, two weeks.

    2. That's crazy.

America is an idea, but it's an idea that brings with it some baggage, like power brings responsibility. It's an idea that brings with it equality, but equality even though it's the highest calling, is the hardest to reach. The idea that anything is possible, that's one of the reasons why I'm a fan of America. - Bono, Commencement University of Pennsylvania May 17, 2004

I guess it depends on your definition of bigot. I tend to think of bigots as people who give preferential treatment to some over others based on characteristics those people can't control...as in sex, color, sexual orientation, etc. So, if you are thinking it's ok for straight people to get married, but not gay people soley because they were born straight.....yup, in mind, you'd be a bigot.

I haven't eaten at Chik-Fil-A in YEARS anyway.....I have always found that place CREEPY as hell. The people that work there are WAY too chipper. What do they say? "How can I delight you today" or something like that? and the fact that they are not open on Sundays for some strange religious reason.....yeah, I picture the people that work there plasturing on fake smiles while they're at work, clocking out, starting their cars and stalking little children....but maybe that's just me.

    Re: Random Musings

I've never eaten at a Chic-Fil-A but then most fast food makes me barf.... (Wendy's is the only place I'd consider...if it was life or death). I don't think any business in this country should be serving opinions with their wares unless there is some sort of direct correlation. I don't see how anyone's marriage has anything to do with eating a chicken sandwich, just like I don't think Walmart should push politics on someone buying underwear and a jar of pickles. (to Tracy: Chic-Fil-A employees also give me the creeps just a bit... they look like they've been brainwashed and are incapable of an independent thought)

For a land whose foundation was built on tolerance.... where or perhaps when was this lost? Shame.

RELATED STORY: My daughter just returned from her summer traveling Europe. I'm always happy to hear her stories and comparisons to the different cultures in the world. This year she did a little more research into the history for her senior AP Euro class. It doesn't take much to see how the tables have completely turned on the reasons why people fled Europe for this land of "freedom". She stayed in a youth hostel in Amsterdam, (one of only two Americans amongst all the young travelers from all over the globe), she was inundated with questions/concerns about how America is perceived these days. I'm glad she experienced that. She also came close to following a young Kiwi bloke back to New Zealand.... . BTW- The Netherlands is the original land of tolerance.

It's going to be fun to watch her in this class and see where she her paths lead her after this year. I wish it was a requirement for all teens to travel out in the world before making that inevitable "what do you want to be/do when you grow up" decision.

Google car.... I passed it a few weeks ago in Brandywine Hundred. We waved like idiots.

    Re: Random Musings

He's a Christian, he is standing by what his Bible tells him. This has nothing to do with what he does for a living.. Call me a bigot, I don't care. Then again, I do believe they should be allowed to be married, someone close thinks just like he does. They are human beings, just like the rest of us. I will continue to eat there, and so will the peron close to me.

If they put a sign In The window that said no gays allowed, then I get everyone's point. He didn't, he was asked a question, or made a statement, and the media blew it to high hell. Who cares, the President has views, you have views, hell other countries have views. If that's what you believe then stand by it. Are the people who are hating on Chic-fil-A bigots as well? Because they are hating because of his views, which in turn they are kind of doing the same thing.

Call me a bigot, racist, who cares, because I sure as hell don't. I am what, I am, and I stand behind it 100%!

Views are like opinions, and opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, and they all stink!

For the record Jessica, I hope we share the same stores and everything else you posted. Just to know it would bother you, would give me enough satisfaction to frequent those places more often. To think I was actually agreeing with your VIEWS, before all this.

Also, I can't believe people here are bashing good customer service. While I don't really agree with what was said, the fact is Chick-Fil-A has some of the tastiest fast food around and they have amazing customer service, which is very rare to see at a fast food restaurant. It's not "creepy" or a sign that they are "brainwashed." It, plain and simple is some of the most courteous customer service I've ever received at a store anywhere. I can't believe people are knocking them for their customer service...wow.

On a different note, why do squirrels always run towards my car when I am driving near them? I try to avoid the little fuckers, I really do, but they dart towards my tires as I get closer, just before realizing at the last second that they should be running in the opposite direction! Why do they do that?

    Josef..... Suicidal Squirrels?

Last note on Chic-Fil-A... from a business POV, he never should've said that to anyone much less a reporter. It's only going to get worse. Once he stated his position on gay marriage, they'll want to know his position on single moms, teen pregnancy, adulterers, birth control, Judaism.... and the list goes on and on. Why would any business person who is trading in the free market do this? It'll be fun to see where this goes and how it effects his company. That's the angle that blew me away. Personally, I don't care what his beliefs are or aren't. Being in the biggest minority, I'm used to everyone thinking differently than me.

This. I refuse to support any company that supports legalized discrimination.

And for what its worth, I've never heard a single argument against gay marriage that hasn't already been used against interracial marriage.

I'm having the same problem We haven't had much rain. Just an occasional shower. My grass just keeps on growing and growing.
On the Chic filet question... If I were gay I sure as hell would not go into his restaurant. Since there are none of his restaurants in my immediate area I don't have to make any decisions on this.

    Re: Random Musings

@Hockey according to the text I received last night from them. Which I posted on facebook. Their business only got better. So as much as everyone is hating on them right now, the other side is supporting the heck out of them. I have never seen traffic on 40 or through Governors like I did two nights ago. Everyone was waiting to go there. I for one was going to Primo's as I did not know that they were making a point for support. Had I of known I would of went there instead. According to what the guy at Primo's said, it was like that since 11 in the morning. That traffic was nuts!

Josef you are right. Best customer service I have ever experienced. Heck they give me a free sandwich coupon damn near every time I go in. Because I ask for lot of mayo at the drive thru window. Check the bag, and there is some in the bag, just not as much as I would like. So I park and run in, grab a handful, manager typically follows me out, says he apologizes and hands me a free sandwich coupon.

They are very courteous at all times, always smiling, and cheerful. Call it brainwashing, call it good customer service. All I know is, when I go there, I know it will be a pleasant experience. Not like all the other fast food chains. you where half the time your order is messed up.
