Wing Bowl (burp!) returns with big eaters
The 15th annual Wing Bowl, a tribute to gluttony, is scheduled to slide into history early today. What started as a radio promotion to console long-suffering Philadelphia Eagles fans on the eve of yet another Super Bowl without the home team attending, has grown into a main event. A capacity crowd of more than 20,000 is expected at the Wachovia Center this morning to watch the spectacle of 25 contestants shoving barbecue chicken wings in their mouths as scantily clad wingettes root them on. It's a frat boy's dream. The goal is to eat the most wings. South Jersey contestants this year included Laz "The Indian Butcher" Sarkari of Voorhees, who qualified by eating a pound of cow tongue with bone marrow in 10 minutes. Others were Mike Belh of Glassboro and Dave Goldstein of Voorhees. The contest this year features a new theme: Philly verses the World. Twenty local contestants are scheduled to face off against five professional eaters from the International Federation of Professional Eaters. Two past champions, Sonya "the Black Widow" Thomas of Virginia and Joey Chestnut of California are included in the field. Reach Bill Duhart at (856) 486-2576 or email@example.com
I wouldn't have the "guts" to do that, hahaa, i would certainly get sick.....yuck!
Yeah I would prolly last to like 24 wings then barf. If barfing was allowed I could eat them things all day long. They said some guys weighing in were like over 400lbs. They should be eating salad not no unlimted wings.
