    Re: Delaware Weather Forecast

WASHINGTON (AP) — Much of the U.S. East Coast has a good chance of getting blasted by gale-force winds, flooding, heavy rain and maybe even snow early next week by an unusual hybrid of hurricane and winter storm, federal and private forecasters say.Though still projecting several days ahead of Halloween week, thecomputer models are spooking meteorologists. Government scientists said Wednesday the storm has a 70 percent chance of smacking the Northeast and mid-Atlantic.
Hurricane Sandy in the Caribbean, an early winter storm in the West, and a blast of arctic air from the North are predicted to collide, sloshing and parking over the country's most populous coastal corridor starting Sunday. The worst of it should peak early Tuesday, but it will stretch into midweek, forecasters say.
"It'll be a rough couple days from Hatteras up to Cape Cod," said forecaster Jim Cisco of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration prediction center in College Park, Md. "We don't have many modern precedents for what the models are suggesting."
It is likely to hit during a full moon when tides are near their highest, increasing coastal flooding potential, NOAA forecasts warn. And with some trees still leafy and the potential for snow, power outages could last to Election Day, some meteorologists fear. They say it has all the earmarks of a billion-dollar storm.

    Re: Delaware Weather Forecast

If the weather gets really bad and anyone needs help please let me know. I have various types of equipment to deal with the aftereffects of this type of storm (Saws, tools, truck, etc.) and since I am currently unemployed I have a bit of time on my hands :-) and I would hate to see anyone stuck inside. This is a free service provided to you (TD members) by me .

America is an idea, but it's an idea that brings with it some baggage, like power brings responsibility. It's an idea that brings with it equality, but equality even though it's the highest calling, is the hardest to reach. The idea that anything is possible, that's one of the reasons why I'm a fan of America. - Bono, Commencement University of Pennsylvania May 17, 2004

I think, if you are smart, you would make sure you stock up earlier, rather than later on water, milk, bread, etc....

Make sure that you have gas in your car, gas for your generators, etc...

Clean out the rain gutters in your neighborhood to help with drainage

There is plenty to do today. Because if this is going to be a crazy nuts storm you are not going to want to deal with the last minute crazies this weekend

Will they still close down I-95 if this weather hits? I can't imagine they'd be able to do that construction in high winds.

I'm depending on you all to keep me informed. I have an elderly aunt in Pot Nets. We are trying to convince her to come North to NC County. Hope I don't need to go to get her....but I will. At least she will be up here with the rest of the family instead of us up here worrying about her!! Thanks, guys.

What makes this a problem storm at the beaches is that it's timed perfectly with a full moon. This means that the already highest tide of the month could cause serious flooding with the storm surges.

If your Aunt is in an area prone to flooding, depending on the exact track, you may want to play it "safe than sorry" and get her up here. There is still some time for Sandy to veer in an easterly direction though. Try to ask her what her neighbors are doing.... that can be a good clue.

Here is a weather site that many of us here think is the best for up to the minute info on storms in our area ....

I've lived in Pot Nets for almost 20 years. Some areas get high water regularly and others like ours (knock on wood) seem to stay dry. Does she have large trees on her property? The area is with Delaware Electric CooP and they seem to do a lot better restoring power than DP&L. The restaurant on the point (Bayside BBQ) is closing for the seson Sat and will have everything 1/2price. Any one want to get drunk at half price.
