Caesar Rodney Proposes 50% Property Tax Increase

Nearly 50% increase in taxes. Get real. The money is not going for the right reasons (The Children). it is going to build palaces, employee benefits and unfunded Federal programs. How many of us recall the glee with which "Race to the Top" was imposed on Delaware by "Smilin Jack" and he DSEA (Delaware State Extortion Association). Now we are being told to "Pay the Piper".

Give us a realistic proposal to vote on Oct. 17th, not a suicide mission.

“If the referendum does not pass, the CRSD administration and school board has some very difficult decisions to make,” said Jessica Marelli, a school board member since 2014.

“Most likely, we will immediately plan to decrease our programing and begin cutting positions across the district. Ultimately, our students and our community will feel the effects of these cuts.”

Dr. Puzzo said future budgetary problems that could make the district’s financial situation even worse are increasing health care costs, unfunded state and/or federal mandates, reductions in state funding and an unfreezing of the equalization formula which alone would lead to a total loss of $4.5 million.

Get out today and vote on this important abuse of the taxation policies of our school districts. Yes a new school is probably necessary, but the amount demanded from taxpaying landowners in the district is preposterous. More than a 50% increase in taxes to build an addition to the high school and another elementary school? Doesn't make sense. VOTE NO and force sanity to return to Caesar Rodney district.

Are they putting additional surcharges on new development in CRSD? That's what they're doing here in NCC to cover the explosion in Middletown...further North, we're about due for an operating referendum here in Brandywine, with maybe a small capital improvement to some of the older facilities...up here they fail on the first attempt, then they come back with what they really need and it passes on the 2nd...
Drinking alcohol in Kentucky is considered being "sober" until you cannot hold on to the ground.

That solution would make too much sense for the brilliant educators in the Caesar Rodney district. Too many over educated under achievers on staff.
