Sorry if you weren't following the NYC coverage proceeding this event. I have family and property in NYC, so I was tuning in to Bloomberg's addresses. A lot of NYC sites are down for obvious reason but here are a few blips that I tried to digest while seeing conflicting reports......snipped

Don't be sorry but I was busy with more pressing issues and many phone calls. I understand and I see your point....but on the other hand with regards to the talking heads of government, I don't trust them or wait for them to tell me what to do. Watching all the weather predictions a week in advance of the storm was all I needed. Everything I was hearing wasn't good. Storm of the century, never had a storm like this, dangerous storm, perfect storm, etc, plus all the descriptions and quotes you mentioned yet people decided to take Bloomberg's word while everybody else is saying otherwise. I can't blame Bloomberg, I blame the people who took his advice and stayed. If I seem heartless it's because of the shit I heard from my fellow FDNY brothers and the ass kicking they took to get to some of these people because they chose to hang around. Swimming to a house that was ablaze? Never thought I'd hear that. They got to the point of sending only one engine company (if they had one available) on working house fires because they were out of resources. They got an order from one chief who basically said, protect yourselves and civilians....fuck the property. To be fair though, that's a lot of people to evacuate and they simply waited to long. Don't forget, many of these mayors were waiting for the governers to declare a state of emergency so the state would pick up the tab. Any decision they make before that, they are responsible for financially. IMO, it's to complex to say what shouda coulda been done. Now, five days later, if anybody dropped the ball, it's Obama. Where's all the resources he promised?
