KOLKATA/BANGALORE: Senate Republicans successfully blocked the passage of an anti-offshoring bill that would have denied tax breaks to US companies moving jobs overseas.
In a snub to President Barack Obama's recent anti-offshoring rhetoric, Republicans, in a 53-45 vote, prevented the bill from passing; at least 60 votes were needed to clear the bill.

So, when Obama tried to solve the problem of outsourcing of jobs, the Republican controlled Senate blocked it. Why did they block it? Could it be that they didn't mind that the continued loss of American jobs could make people disappointed with Obama? The Republicans in the Senate could have been reassured to think that the typical voter doesn't follow legislative politics very closely and would easily accept the Republican "spin" that fingers Obama as the reason jobs are being lost, not the party that blocked the legislation that would have begun to address the problem.

Back in the day I would take the views of the reporter as fact but now I know better.
So Obama does not want drilling here and he does not want to reduce the tax penalty for drilling where it is permitted?

if Obama wanted the jobs here then let them drill here by approving the federal drilling permits.

we gave brazil billions to drill where we won't let our companies drill and then he tells them we want to be their best customer.

The main stream media has ignored most of the 'changes' made by this administration. The 'social changes' that reverse years of policies that had been in place for valid reasons are one thing but when the national security level is reduced and we abandon our people who we placed in harms way, it is way past time that we make a change. His economic policies have failed and the energy policy is a total fiasco. It one carefully examines the Obama agenda and understands the long term damage done by it, you wonder how anyone could want more of this. Then the man stands up and tells us that trust is important!
