A former patient is in custody after threatening two doctors at Beebe Medical Center over the weekend. Floyd Willis, 60, of Georgetown, who was a patient at Beebe several years ago, left threatening phone messages for the doctors, both received Monday morning, said Lewes Police Lt. James Azato.
Willis identified himself in each of the two messages. He was taken into police custody at his home late morning Oct. 1 and charged with two counts of terroristic threatening.
Willis was later released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
“He said he purchased a gun and had a bullet with the doctor’s name on it,” Azato said, adding Willis called two doctors, leaving the same message each time.
Beebe Medical Center continues to operate under heightened security, hospital officials said.
Only two entrances are open to the public, and security guards are checking identifications for all visitors, officials said. “We have secured entrances to the hospital and to our other locations on this campus,” said Ron Webster, director of security, in a press release.
