Study: Beer still good after atomic bomb

(CNN) - Your favorite brew could be your lifeline in the event of a nuclear disaster.
A recently discovered government report says beer and soft drinks in sealed glass containers would be safe to drink in the event of a blast.
In 1965, testing by the FDA and the Civil Defense Administration found the beverages could also be used as potable water in the event of an emergency.
Bottles were found to be mildly radioactive, but the radiation did not carry over to the contents.
Experts warn, do not expect your Coors or Coke to taste the same. Taste testers of the drinks after a blast say the flavor is "definitely off."

Isn't the point of the article moot ? Who's going to be around to care if the beer is still 'good' if we are all dead from the nuclear attack? Nikita Khrushchev said
the living will envy the dead

So your saying that the shelters that are built will not be able to let us survive from a nuclear attack?

They're all dead. No one has ever survived a nuclear war and never has it been predicted that anyone would survive a nuclear war in the future. Proof enough for ya'?

He survived, so did a whole lot more. If I was a survivor I damn sure would want a beer.

    First, ROTLMFAO

Second, who's all dead, the ones who were bombed? We're they in nuclear bomb shelters? I'm guessing No, they were just out walking the street and thn BOOM, a bomb was dropped on them, or near them.

P.S. I did ask for facts right, if not I am now.

He survived, so did a whole lot more. If I was a survivor I damn sure would want a beer.
Many of those who survived suffered a lifetime of radiation-related health problems, including cancers. Yamaguchi lost his hearing in his left ear in the blasts, and suffered from acute leukemia, cataracts and other bomb-related illnesses in subsequent years.
Yamaguchi was also firmly "anti- nuke" in hoping that the world would abolish all nuclear weapons from the face of the Earth. It sounds like to me that Yamaguchi,
only man recognized as a survivor of both atom bombs dropped in Japan at the end of World War II
agrees with me that the 'living will envy the dead' if we don't abolish 'nuclear ' weapons forever.
Yamaguchi spoke publicly about his experiences and appealed for the abolition of nuclear weapons at venues such as the United Nations.
So, this proves that I'm right so far- Yamaguchi also believed that nuclear weapons, hundreds of times worse than atomic, would leave no survivors . I stand by my claim,
No one has ever survived a nuclear war and never has it been predicted that anyone would survive a nuclear war in the future. Proof enough for ya'?
Now;go enjoy a beer and be glad that under President Obama's watch we haven't had to dive under our desks in an atomic air raid drill or worry over any new 'Cuban Missile Crisis' showdowns with the Russians.

    Max,
My point was that not everyone dies
Your point is moot. There is no evidence that any one has survived a nuclear war because there has never been one(as yet) But, I'm not going to hope for one just to prove you wrong.

Yeah, a conspiracy to make us all drink cheap, watered-down, no-taste commercial beer!

Re: Study: Beer still good after atomic bomb

Are you guys talking about a NUCLEAR WAR or a NUCLEAR BOMB... as in a single NUCLEAR device vs a WWIII with NUKES lighting up the ozone??

No one interested in drinking beer would survive a WWIII with nukes. Every civilized soul will die due to impact or shortly after the skies go dark. IF the human race survives it would be in a remote little area on the planet... maybe Fiji or the Cook Islands? It'll be up to them to repopulate the planet. They'll be sent back to the middle ages as far as resources go... they'll be hunters & gathers with bows and arrows.

If anyone did manage to lock themselves in a shelter/bunker, they'd be in there a very long time. Eventually they'll emerge to radiated ground, void of nutrients with every electrical thing, including batteries, rendered useless from the gamma rays. Death and rot will be everywhere. If there were any other shelter survivors, you'd have to compete with them for resources.... aka kill or be killed. I don't think many of us have the strength or knowledge to survive in a late stone age like era even without the complications of a post nuclear earth.

Personally, I'll be staying right here in Delaware and take a nuke straight on vs dying a slow, painful, scary, watching my children die and be eaten type of death. Hopefully, I'll have plenty of good beer to be consuming while waiting for impact.
