    Oktoberfest !!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if this is posted elsewhere on TD, but......

Oktoberfest 2012 is this weekend, Fri 9/21 thru Sun 9/23 at the Delaware Saengerbund on Salem Church Road in Newark. Always a great time. Hope to see you there!!

$8 admission this year.... remote parking is at Our Lady of Grace home on Rt 4, near Brookside. Park there for $10 (all the money goes to the home) and take a shuttle bus to the admission tent at the Oktoberfest.
Parking at or near the Saengerbund is next to impossible.

    Friday 5-11 p.m., Saturday 12 noon-11 p.m., Sunday 12 noon to 6 p.m.

And just a heads up, friends who work the Oktoberfest told me that proper ID is required at the gate or your dont get in...and EVERYONE gets carded at the beer tent. No ID = No beer .
I fully support the arrest and deportation of all
    illegal immigrants.

    Re: Oktoberfest !!!!!!!!!!!!

Was so looking forward to go this year, since I just got into drinking beer. But I'm in OBX until Sunday morning, and probably won't be home until right at the end of the Sunday hours. Oh well, there's always next year.

If it's OKTOBERfest, why the hell is it being held in September?

My husband and I had our first date at the Oktoberfest seven years ago. It lasted for over 12 hours. Even though we can no longer spend an entire day drinking beer and eating German food, I still think of it fondly!

    Re: Oktoberfest !!!!!!!!!!!!

Panama, the Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest starts the same weekend as the real deal Oktoberfest in Munich...I think it is always two weekends before the 1st Sunday in October, based on years of tradition. Something like that.
The Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest might be small potatoes compared to other huge Oktoberfests held across the USA and of course nothing compares to Munich, but the DSB celebration is still a great time, great food, great beer, great dancing, music, etc etc.

    Re: Oktoberfest !!!!!!!!!!!!

No I haven't tried that Bellicose. Sam Adams Octoberfest is my all time favorite beer so when it's available, I don't even look at another beer. I'll have to try Hazel Brown.... must remember this if I see it.

    Re: Oktoberfest !!!!!!!!!!!!

Only going to see it in the Harvest Collection 12 pack.

Comes with 2 of your favorite, Oktoberfest
    2 Hazel Brown-Amazing!
2 Boston Lager-first beer I have ever drank fully, like it better in Draft
2 Latitude 48 IPA-just a little too hoppy for me
2 Dunkelweizen-I enjoyed this one as well
2 Pumpkin Harvest-didn't like it at first and then it actually grew on me, like it now.

Take all my opinions lightly as I have just started to drink beer. But Hazel Brown is the best beer I have ever had, next to Sam Adams Albian Ale, which is not on the shelves.

Sorry, off topic, but If you like the hazel you'll love the Pig Iron Porter from Iron Hill Brewery, don't let the Porter tag scare you. It's a hellofa brew.
Back on topic.. Sadly Ill have to miss the fest this year, works got a big paving job on Saturday.

    Re: Oktoberfest !!!!!!!!!!!!

We enjoyed the Harvest Collection 12 pack a couple of weekends ago with some friends. It was amazing. The Hazel Brown was a little too dark for me, and I'm not generally an IPA fan, but I liked this one. The Pumpkin Harvest was just about perfect, and of course the Oktoberfest was a crowd favorite.
