this was more spurred by a problem on talkpa. being able to get to both www and non-www can be a problem for any site and cause issues with logins, cookies, and google ranking as well.

I have had no problems logging on to the site; but I do have a question concerning email notifications. We used to receive email notifications for new posts to our subscribed threads.

As one who works continuously with some horrendously large databases, I know what a nightmare it can be. The potential for accidental data contamination is monumental. And it becomes even more of a pain in the butt on sites with ONE person—with a fulltime PAYING job and a family life outside the forum—to keep track of everything.

The email notifications were a convenience. Will that function return? It’s not a major inconvenience not having it, though.
    Regards,

Let me see what is up with that. I will be doing a few other minor things to the site as well over the next week or so.

ok i tested the thread subscriptions and they are working. i do not subscribe to threads but i just did to test them.

if you are not getting emails for new posts and you want to please check your settings.

you can see your thread subscriptions and what type they are here http://www.talkdelaware.com/subscrip...n&folderid=all

you can subscribe instantly, daily, or weekly, pay attention to that.

also check your general settings and make sure you have allowed the administrator to email you, click here http://www.talkdelaware.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

under messaging and notifications - recieve email - Receive Email from Administrators

there also you can set your default subscription mode to threads.

if all that is set right, and you still don't get email check your spam folder

if they are not in your spam folder contact me and i will check it out.

I had difficulty loggin in last night ... I thought it was me though.

Since we're on the subject.... my problems with TD are frustrating as hell..... typing a clever reply only to have my session time out. It sends me into a rage and I have to walk away which means I don't respond to those threads at all. I know Joe was having a similar problem a ways back.

When I times out on me, I just copy and paste. Because its happened to me. Although I'm pretty sure of you use the login that pops up, it remember what you typed and will post it for you as soon as you login. At least it used to, I think.

I'm going to kill two birds--not literally, you animal lovers--with one stone here. You are correct, Hockey, I used to have a terrible problem with timeouts. And, as folks around these parts know, I'm not known for my short posts!

Anyway, Chase solved that problem by telling me to make sure that I checked the box (REMEMBER ME) located just below the box wherein you place your screen name. I never used to pay any attention to that; but since now making sure I check it each time I log in, I've had no more problems with time outs.

Now as for my problem in not receiving notification emails relative to my subscribed posts, I want to inform Chase that ALL is working fine now. And, it's positively amazing how well this interface works once a user knows what HE is doing.

My settings were all set properly so that I would receive email notifications as well as email from the admins. Yet, I was NOT receiving any email notifications.

So, just out of curiosity I went into my profile. EVERYTHING was properly set EXCEPT my email address. It was still set at truefactsedcitor@register.com. The problem? I stopped using Register.com almost a year ago. While I have no intentions of going there to see, I'm betting there is a sluw of email notifications from TD.

I edited the email address with one that works and I'm getting all kinds email notifications now. The whole situations boils down to "stupid is as stupid does."

So once again, Chase, my apologies for blaming TD for my own blunders. However, in my own defense, you must realize that as the board's owner and chief technical tweak-er, you are instantly the automatic BLAME-E!
