Del. Business Owner To Speak At GOP Convention

MILFORD, Del. - A Delaware business owner and political hopeful will be taking the stage at the Republican National Convention.

Sher Valenzuela, the Republican challenger to Lt. Gov. Matt Denn, is scheduled to speak about the upholstery business she started more than 15 years ago in a Milford garage to help pay for autism therapy for her son.

The 58-year-old Valenzuela runs First State Manufacturing along with her husband. Since starting the company in their garage, First State Manufacturing has grown into a multi-million dollar business. The (Wilmington) News Journal reported Sunday that the company has landed $15.2 million in federal contracts since 2001, mostly from the Department of Defense.

I don't think that's a good idea. You might not want to bite the hand that feeds you.

Curly does have an Eagle's eye for spotting hypocrisy.
I don't think that's a good idea. You might not want to bite the hand that feeds you.
Spot on, Buddy! It might be too embarassing for Sher Valenzuela to try to explain her praise of the 'pull yourself up by your own bootstraps ' business model and taking government handouts and contracts to help her business grow into a multi-million dollar enterprise. How can she honestly say that she built her business on her own without any help from anyone?
The (Wilmington) News Journal reported Sunday that the company has landed $15.2 million in federal contracts since 2001, mostly from the Department of Defense
It takes a village,(and a friendly Big Federal Government ); doesn't it? my dear Sher.

Yea but the difference is she paid back her loans, she didn't outsource work she hired locally she did everything she should have her company employes 70 Delawareans, she is actively bringing work here stealing it from the chinese and mexico simply by giving folks a good product for a decent price,

Whos gonna pay back the Solandra loans? I will tell you, we the people will. So when the dumbass in Washington says "You didn't build that" well I simply say hey mr obamma I paid my taxes and some of that went to infastructure and if I want her to use my tax money shut your big fat mouth at least she paid back her loans.

    Max,
Whos gonna pay back the Solandra loans?
From open testimony before Congress on the Solyndra loan deal, the Obama Department of Energy reviewed for months the Solyndra energy loan that G W Bush tried to fasttrack just before Obama's Inauguration. Department of Energy loan officers put in place guarantees that the Government would be paid back first before the other two large investors , Walmart and George Kaiser.
    "You didn't build that"
I'll forget for now that you're disrespectfully taking what the President said out of context for making it into something controversial and not understandable. Nobody has built their business completely on their own. Instead of using that as a partisan attack, let's take it how it was meant by Obama:We need each other. And we need to work together .

Horse shit, everyone knew what he meant, and as far as Solyndra goes it's common knowledge that is an Obama problem. Quit trying to blame Bush we are 4 years into this idiots term and things are not getting better. Who you going to blame if hes reelected and thing dont get better?

Of course, both of you ,for partisan interests of your own, don't want to admit that things have gotten better in the last four years. Obama has promised that if he is reelected that he will not give up on his efforts to bring the Congress together, promote bi-partisanship legislation to address the pressing needs of our country to go forward ---reduce our global military committments, pursue a comprehensive energy policy where the key elements are conservation of our most expensive, scarce energy sources and development of renewable energy more readily at hand, solar, wind and geothermal , protecting the safety, health, and stability of our natural ecosystems that provide the common goods and services necessary for a sustainable, strong market economy, and rebuilding our nation, unifying its people , for the shared sacrifices and rewards of a 21st century that can no longer cover the environmental risks of burning more fossil fuels . We all deserve to enjoy the benefits of our society more equally and justly.

I have no partisan interests. I'm kinda middle of the road unhappy that both sides are so polarized there is no working together. You know Beau I would really like to tell you to get your head out of your ass.. But I don't make those kind of posts here on TD.. Sooo

Yet, you disagree with President Obama's promise to keep trying to bring Congress together and pass bipartisan legislation on debt reduction, fairer taxes , less war ,and more peace and prosperity sharing for all Americans by expanding the working middle class? Now, I am confused by you two making contradictory claims.

Ok then Longnecker, I'll say it. Beau, with that previous statement, you have your head up your ass. I can take you more serious if and when you can admit Obama hasn't done anything to make things better. All I see so far are excuses for everything, turning it into a conservative or republican problem every time. You gotta admit, he's horrible. Romney probably won't be any better but at least I can admit that. So, how has it gotten better...for you?

Who am I kidding? I'm patronizing. Howdy Doody would be a better pres than Obama.

That's "we" Republicans Max...And they all bend, fold, staple and mutilate the truth when it suits them. Sad but true.
