George W Bush wasn't too busy'with other things' to make global warming a key policy issue when he ran for President in 2000.

After the 9/11 attacks, the nationalists(cheney, rumsfeld) and militarists(Paul Wolfowitz, elliot abrams) joined forces in the G W Bush Administration and created a foreign policy that was both idealistic and militarist and led to two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan(the global warming issue was put on hold and the economy on Wall Street auto-pilot) It resulted in mostly disastrous outcomes. In G W Bush's second term , the realist , pragmatists, (Bob Zoellick, Brent Scowcroft ,and James Baker) took over and led to the negotiated Status of Forces agreement with Iraq to end the war and withdrawal of US troops, put on hold accepting small rogue states like former Soviet client state Georgia into NATO that could have led to a direct nuclear confrontation between Russia and the US, pressured Israel on self-restraint and ending its blockade of humanitarian aid going to the Palestinians, and also put global warming back in focus with G W Bush signing the 2005 Energy Policy Act--The Energy Policy Act of 2005 - Energy Law - EPAct 2005 Energy ...

You're doing fine ,max ,on vitriolic emotionalism ,but short on history. President Jimmy Carter promised that he'd never lie to us and he kept that promise . Too bad for us that too many Americans were not ready to handle the truth. They didn't like the message so they wanted to kill the messenger. There are conservative , libertarian, and liberal economists who agree that if we had followed Jimmy Carter's energy conservation advice more quickly like he laid it out in his now famous "Sweater Speech" then the United States would be energy self-sufficient today.

We can't continue to use oil and gas for 75 percent of our consumption when they make up seven percent of our domestic reserves. ...
