    Lightbulb Climate Change

I signed a petition to Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chair, The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama, which says:
"Stop acting as though the planet were infinite. It isn't, and infinite planet practices are degrading the quality of life for all Americans, as they transform our landscapes, degrade natural systems, and lead to climate change." We can all do our part by urging Climate Change be placed on the debate agenda for Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama. Let's ask them what they are going to do about it.

Beau... While I get your point I have to disagree with you. This old rock has been here for a while. It's been through the ice age.floods, dinosaurs and a few civilizations that were advanced for their times. While I agree life as we know it may not last forever. I believe this old rock will be here welcoming whatever comes next.

When it comes to the climate crisis, Mitt Romney has been evasive and inconsistent. The stakes are too high to play politics with the planet, so we're issuing Mr. Romney a direct challenge by asking him two simple questions.
    1. Do You agree with the vast majority of scientists that climate change is a real, humanly caused phenomenon ? 2. If so, what do you propose to do about it? 350.org makes the point that climate change is the biggest policy challenge we face--it's the biggest policy challenge humans have EVER faced ---and so far there has been no indication where the presumptive Republican nominee stands on this issue.

I think at this point Romney has enough to do fixing things since this guy came to town.

Online petitions have the same effect as posting about them in a public forum.

Maybe that's true, max1 ,but George W Bush wasn't too busy'with other things' to make global warming a key policy issue when he ran for President in 2000.

Look, lets stop with blaming Bush. There is something going on with mother earth and its probably something we have no control over. The earth is warming I just don't think people are doing the worst of it, its just my opinion based upon what I read from numerous sources. No one wants to see the earth destroyed any faster then we need to :-)

    @max1,
Look, lets stop with blaming Bush.
Who's "blaming Bush"? I think that my view on G W Bush finding the time to make global warming a key policy issue in 2000(like his father before him) was positive. I do question why some people think Mitt Romney or even his policy team, has 'no time' to formulate a view of climate change? It's been in the news enough pro and con, climate change has been linked by various news media, Fox and CNN , for our drought condition in the American west that's causing great damage to our agricultural heartland and suffering to many US farmers and ranchers. I would think that Mitt Romney as a moderate businessman and proponent of a strong US economy might jump at the chance to voice his views on the subject .

Epic, I agree with the sentiment. Sadly, even dead George would do a better job than most politicians, But he doesn't have the physical capability to take the oath of office.

    blah blah blah,

    unemployment 8%and climbing

To fix the economic problems by passing the $787 billion Tarp bill (Congress passed the bill without reading or debating the bill as required by constitutional rules.), promised that unemployment would not exceed 8% and shovel ready jobs were available to jump start the economy.

    THAT WAS A LIE

To rid Washington of lobbyist and special interest groups. Presently in his administration Barak Obama has at least 30 lobbyist, some appointments are know as czars. Obama has been meeting with union officials ( special interest )at the white house on a regular basis.

    THAT WAS A LIE

To have an open transparent government and to allow C-Span to televise the debates and Congressional meetings. Folks it didn’t happen, C-Span was denied access (that is called censorship.)

    THAT WAS A LIE

Barry Obamma will go down as the worst president ever, worse then Carter was.......

    :-)

    1. Do You agree with the vast majority of scientists that climate change is a real, humanly caused phenomenon ?
No. The vast majority of scientists thought the earth was flat too.

    2. If so, what do you propose to do about it? 350.org makes the point that climate change is the biggest policy challenge we face--it's the biggest policy challenge humans have EVER faced ---and so far there has been no indication where the presumptive "Republican" nominee stands on this issue.
Probably because most people are concerned about this shitty obama economy and this whole global warming thing....well, they just don't give a shit right now. "Sir, could you sign this petition on global warming?"....."Get the fuck away from me!!! I need a job!"

Like it or not very few care, let alone how Romney feels about it. It's unfortunate but true.

Re: Stop behaving as if the planet were infinite www.signon.org

    Max1 claimed,
To fix the economic problems by passing the $787 billion Tarp bill
True, Congress passed it upon recommendation from President G W Bush who signed it. President-elect Obama had to make a written request to the outgoing Bush Administration to release the remaining TARP funds to him . All TARP funds have been repaid to the US government as the economy has recovered . The US government ,under Obama, has passed much of the funding to American businesses, rebuilding national infrastructure projects, tax credits for developing renewable energy alternatives, expanding the green economy of which over 1.3 million Americans already work , extending unemployment insurance for individuals who lost jobs in the Bush recession of 2008, expanding job education programs in local community colleges and Universities(main vehicle for upward social mobility) So, it looks like Obama did a nice job handling the remaining Bush requested bail-out money .

Hardly accurate,my friend. The economy is the smaller subset of the larger ecological system of the planet. You can't have a strong ,sustainable economy without a stable ecology. People are beginning to realize that evidence by the millions now Witness the growing, orderly protesting crowds at www.350.org rallies for meaningful climate change policy from our government.

Our definitions of what is accurate or not is subjective. You and I obviously hang out with different crowds.

I did not know that there were so few farmers, ranchers, hunters, fishermen, gardeners, students, and small Main Street businessmen in your neck of the woods , buddy. Thanks for the tip. I'll be happy to bring some of my crowd over to meet your crowd.

As long as there's booze. Here, mostly firefighters, medics, nurses, cops etc, the public safety crowd. Funny thing, they do many of those things you mentioned on the side or as a hobby. Some support Obama because of the union thing and many don't because union stuff isn't their main concern. Next time, I'll bring up global warming. I hope I don't get my ass kicked.....buddy.
