    STAR Campus (old Chrysler site) chat

    so anyone thought about any of this? who actually owns it? what are they building? i heard about this bloom thing...what is that?

    Ya might not wanna hear from me. UD owns it. As soon as UD "partners" with anyone it's unfair competition for the local economy and a very "odd" tax structure. Bloom is very secretive about the alternative energy they say they will be making. We'll have to see.

    It just makes me so sad to drive past that site. Closing that plant effected a lot of families.
    You can only make a mistake once. After that it's a choice.

    My dad retired from there like 8 years or so before they shut it down.

    I had a lots of friends who worked and/or retired from there too. It's loss has really been felt. We would have been much better off having another manufacturing plant of some kind built there,IMHO. Every time UD gets hold of something it comes right off the Newark tax rolls. An active train siding isn't easy to find any more either. Very sad.
