Alex Trebek wants to ask debate questions
The clue: He's a TV game-show host who would like to pose questions at a presidential debate.
The question: Who is Alex Trebek of Jeopardy?
Time magazine has a behind-the-scenes look at the game show's Power Players edition and offers the Trebek tidbit under No. 2 on its list of things you won't see on camera. The shows, taped last month at Constitution Hall in Washington, air starting tonight.
"He votes as an independent," Time's Katy Steinmetz writes about Trebek. "He would like to be asked to ask questions at a presidential debate."
This is the third edition of Power Players, where Washington celebrities play the popular trivia game for their favorite charities. The Jeopardy! players include former White House press secretaries Robert Gibbs and Dana Perino as well as journalists such as Chuck Todd of NBC News, Katty Kay of the BBC and Thomas Friedman of The New York Times.
The bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the dates and locations this fall for the three presidential debates and one vice presidential faceoff.
No moderators for the debates have been named, but they've typically come from the world of journalism, such as the 2008 lineup of Jim Lehrer and Gwen Ifill of PBS, Tom Brokaw of NBC News and Bob Schieffer of CBS News.
