LINCOLN, Del. - A two vehicle crash involving a DART bus is under investigation.
Delaware State Police say the incident occurred Wednesday around 5:55 p.m. on Johnson Road and North Old State Road in Lincoln.
Police say 49-year-old Cheryl Thompson, of Hartly, was driving the DART bus westbound on Johnson Road and approaching the intersection of North Old State Road. That's when officials say Thompson saw another vehicle coming toward her in the same lane. Police say Thompson stopped and pulled to the right shoulder with the bus partially in the roadway. The driver of the oncoming vehicle, a teenager from Milford, continued eastbound in the westbound lane and struck the front of the bus head-on.
The teenage driver was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he was admitted due to his injuries. Police say the DART bus was carrying six passengers at the time of the crash. A 23-year-old female and her 8-month-old son were transported to the hospital and then released.
The roadway was closed for 2.5 hours following the crash.
Police say the investigation continues, charges against the teenage driver are pending.
