A 47-year-old Wilmington man was wounded early today after two men tried to force their way into his motel room near New Castle, state police said.
The man was treated at Christiana Hospital for a graze wound to his upper body. A woman who was with him in the room was not injured.
State police Cpl. Jeffrey Hale gave this account: The man and woman were in the Super Lodge Motel in the 1200 block of West Ave., about 4:20 a.m. when they heard a knock. They opened the door and two men tried to force their way inside.
The men struggled, and one of the intruders pulled out a gun and fired. The wounded man continued fighting and the suspects
