    3-alarm fire rips apartments

    A three-alarm fire caused extensive damage early today to an apartment complex in Bear.
    The fire was reported at 1:45 a.m. at the Brandywine Woods apartments just east of Del. 1 at U.S 40.
    Firefighters from as far away as New Jersey and Pennsylvania responded to the blaze.
    One injured person was reported taken to a hospital.

    I live very near these apartments and didn't even know about this until everyone at work was talking about it. Wow!

    One of our Newark police officers was at work at the time... His wife got out OK,but they lost everything.

    I hope they had renter's insurance. In today's tight economy it's so easy to think you don't really need that.

    they were new enough to have sprinklers in the units, wonder what exactly happened.

    Drove past the apartments on Sunday, wow. I feel badly for the folks living there. The area is gated off with a security guard keeping watch.

    i drove from my house in mtown to my dads today in buckley, hit the ramp from 1N to rt40 and was totally oblivious to the damage....didnt even notice it.....wasnt really looking either though, didn't know about this till just now.

    My first house I ever owned was in Buckley. I remember when those apartments went in. I can't imagine how devastating that must be to lose everything.
    You can only make a mistake once. After that it's a choice.
