I happened to see one of my friends last night who has a classically autistic son. He is 14 now and sadly has entered a violent stage. He had never accepted "no" very well and was determined to have his own way in all things. needless to say that is not always possible. He finally was asked to leave the program he was in at school and go into residential treatment. One of those couldn't handle him, but another place, in a different state, was willing to give it a try and he seems to be adjusting better there.
He had started hurting the teachers and other kids in his class, and attacked his mother many times to the point of really hurting her. He had total meltdowns at home where he threw furniture through the windows and pretty much destroyed the house. Very sad. I'm not sure what will become of him.

Oh Crabby, what a shame, it must be torment for his parents.
Some people have cats and go on to lead perfectly normal lives.

How terrible that must be for the parents. I can't imagine having to deal with that.
