NEW YORK – PayPal has launched a mobile payments service that lets businesses accept credit cards using a small triangular card reader attached to an iPhone.

The PayPal Here mobile payment device can plug into your iPhone.
Called PayPal Here, the service is similar to existing mobile payments services such as Square. Customers will be able to pay using credit cards, their PayPal accounts or checks in the U.S. But they don't need a PayPal account to do so.
PayPal said Thursday that the service will be available for Android devices later. The service doesn't work with Apple's iPad, whereas Square does.

Businesses will be able to accept payments without the card reader, though this will be more time-consuming. Merchants will be able to manually type in or scan credit card information, or email customers an invoice that they can pay later.
The service is already available for some merchants in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong and Australia. Other businesses can sign up for PayPal Here on the company's website and get notified when it becomes available, the company said.
PayPal, which is owned by eBay Inc., will take a 2.7% cut for each credit card and PayPal transaction. Square takes a 2.75% commission.

this will be great when they get android working

i use square now and it is a breeze on android, really great. but i ONLY use square for that, and it deposits to my bank account. if i could nix square, and use PP in the same capacity (with .05% less fees) i would gladly do that.

Probably not now, but there will be one Ebay crushes Square.

You could so scam the system. You need cash, right now. Well instead of taking a cash advance on your credit card. You just charge yourself something, for said amount of cash, and it goes straight to your account. You don't end up paying the absolutely absurd interest rate for the cash advance, yet you still get the cash...lol

bank acct is low, i just got a big paypal payment, so i go to wawa and tap mac for $XXX dollars, go to bank and deposit cash.

would work the same for a CC though.....i dont do CC's though...at all.
