Threat to blow up school triggers lockdown
Lisa Thomas
A 48-year-old Milton woman was arrested this morning when she threatened to blow up Brittingham Elementary School, triggering a lockdown, police said.
Shortly before 9 a.m., Milton police were called to the school in the 400 block of Mulberry St., Capt. John Cornwell said.
Officer arrived to find the woman, identified as Lisa Thomas, had left the building.
She was arrested outside and charged with felony terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct.
Cornwell said Thomas had gone into the school, become disorderly and started cursing and yelling abusive language at the staff.
She then went outside and continued the behavior, saying she was going to blow up the school, Cornwell said.
The school went into lockdown until the woman could be apprehended.
She was later released on $2,500 unsecured bail and issued a no contact order with the Cape Henlopen School District, Cornwell said.
