    Opening tomorrow: John Carter

I've been re-reading the original "John Carter of Mars" stories. I am not entirely happy with how the story is looking in this trailer. Starting with the decision to remove the "of Mars" from the title. The production designs are making my mouth water, though...

I don't doubt the movie will be entertaining, but I will kind of miss little details - like the fact that everyone went around buck naked except for rank ornaments and weapons harnesses... I want full frontal, dammit! YES, both sexes; I believe in equality *giggle*

Also, is it just me or is the trailer music here a shameless ripoff of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir"? (At least Puff Daddy didn't pretend he didn't for the "Godzilla" (in name only) soundtrack...)

    Oh, right, the trailer:

That's only because they didn't want a movie called Joan Carter of Venus spinoff.

Every time I see this movie advertised I keep thinking of Dr. John Carter from ER, lol. And apparently he's on a mission to Mars or something.

Seriously though, it's hard to believe this movie has been in development limbo since the 1930's (or before). The reviews so far have been mixed, right around 50% on Rotten Tomatoes.

And PG, from what I heard, they cut A LOT of stuff out from the books in order to fit everything into one movie.

And you're right, that's definitely a rip off of that Led Zeppelin song

A beefed-up Noah Wyle? Hmmm. Interesting thought. Thanks for putting it in my head.

At least Puff Daddy wasn't pretending otherwise when he got Robert Plant to play on "Come With Me" for Godzilla (Godzilla in name only!).

Come on, people! Let's see some participation here!

Also, anyone who goes and sees it, please let me know how it was? I'm thinking of asking for dinner and a movie for my B-day.

I read the mars series ages ago, high school I believe. If I didn't have 5 novels in the queue, I might consider rereading them.

I have no idea how I missed this series of books. Now I have to go investigate. Amazon, I'm on my way.

I don't usually like the movies after I have read the book/s.

If you have a Kindle you can probably find them for free there or in several e-book formats on Project Gutenberg.

AAARRRRGGGGHHH! I just lost a huge review I was composing!

Back in a few, I'm going to try reconstructing it.
