Brainstorm, I was reading about that in several papers! No wonder they wanted a further evaluation on him, and in light of that (images of Parent/Child porn on his computer etc.) I can't understand why he was still given a home visit. It sounds like a classic case of failure to communicate.
Some people have cats and go on to lead perfectly normal lives.

O.K. Question for the folks who actually know the law here. How much authority does Social Services have to deny thte father a visit. The kids were being protected by the woman sent by Social Services.

It all depends on the ruling by the judge. Social Services cannot override a court order of custody/visitation.Originally Posted by longnecker
ETA: The judges usually listen to recommendations from Social Services, and can get emergency custody of children when they are in immediate danger, as long as a judge signs off on it. If emergency custody is awarded to the state, there's a hearing within the next week (usually the very next Wednesday in New Castle County). Generally, a kid in state custody would get 1 hour weekly supervised visits to start. Initial goals of a kid in custody are ALWAYS reunification with family. I'm not sure if these kids were in state custody or in the custody of their grandparents with the state assisting in the visitation.
It seems this father went through all of his supervised visits and gave no indication of any issues for him being around his children. And these visits were still supervised, though he was allowed to see them in his own home. Delaware has a secure visitation center if visits cannot happen at a DFS office. From what I read, his presence was too disruptive to the other families visiting their children and the judge allowed his visits to take place in his home.

This could easily have happened here. Our press never uses the words "domestic violence", but DEc has plenty of cases where people are killed and them the killer takes his own life.
In Delaware we also have many women who have lost custody to their abusers. Now the youngest victims have their protector removed from the home. Abuse is physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological. They all suffer in silence, gagged by a system that gives ultimate control to eople just like this guy.
Women don't see it coming, and you would never know. Abusers are control freaks and just like in this case, they know exactly what they are doing. Everyone notice on tv when there's is a bizaare crimes, them neighbors always comments about how nomal the person seems? Bingo.
1 in 4 women experience abuse in their lifetime. Countless innocent children suffer in silence. We have guys just like this here. Look twice when things arent adding up. Ask the hard questions when you see a Dad win custody.
Donate clothes and household good to them DV shelter so that women and children who had to flee for their lives have clothes to get to work and school.
