Second point. Gingrich said he was "CONSIDERING" Palin for VP IF he got the nod. CONSIDERING, not breaking any law. STATING an OPINION that he thought that Palin was acceptable for many cabinet positions is simply him, STATING AN OPINION, again, that is not against the law. You are grasping at straws for some reason, whatever, you're wrong but from past experience I know you will keep gnawing at this bone until the cows come home. So, you're incorrect in your supposition, we know you're wrong in it, but you are certainly free to continue to talk about it. I am also free to dismiss this little contretemps as being not worth a further waste of MY time. Have a good one though!

    @Tralee,
Gingrich said he was "CONSIDERING" Palin for VP IF he got the nod.
You are making the case against Gingrich better than I can (Maybe all those hours of you sitting in on your lawyer husband's court trials soaked something of the law in) You agree that Sarah endorsed Gingrich;no matter how indirectly ,she did. You also admit that he was "considering Palin for VP --it is on the public record immediately before Palin gives her support of him(also on the public record. ) Gingrich , as a candidate, can not give 'directly or indirectly such pledges or promises in exchange for a person's endorsement. That's the law Gingrich broke. Even outahere can understand it; you're supposed to be the brains of the bunch;aren't you?

Gingrich is supposed to be the brains of this Republican bunch.

Sigh, Now we know they are in trouble. it's a bribe with Palin pure and simple. Doesn't take a genius to see that, LOL.

Newt Gingrich falsely claimed Democrats haven't passed a law making waterboarding illegal since taking over Congress in 2007 when in fact they did pass such a bill in 2008 that Bush vetoed.

The dems brought it up for a vote knowing Bush would veto it, just more politics.

If your child, husband or other were being held by a terrorist group and the only way to save them would be to water board someone would you do it?

right-wingers mocked Warren Buffett's claim that he pays less in taxes than his secretary. But it looks like Republicans are about to nominate a man worth hundreds of millions of dollars who admits he pays a lower rate than...WARREN BUFFET'S SECRETARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    It's really quite something.

Re: Newt Gingrich Just Broke The Law

There is a GOP debate every four or five hours, constantly, forever. CNN's John King did manage to really get the amoral jewelry-debt piglet Newt Gingrich in full squeaking rage because, boo hoo, somebody asked Newt about his endless adultery and divorcing and banging other ladies while he’s married, etc. So did the multimillionaire academic-politician-author Newt come clean and apologize to America for being such a disgusting sleazebag who always buys new whores with his $500,000 Tiffany line of credit? Haha, of course not. Instead, he said this:
“I am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama by attacking Republicans.”
    The elite! Barack Obama!
Nothing else happened in this stupid debate.

Here is what Buffett has said in an op-ed in the New York Times headlined, "Stop Coddling the Super-Rich." Buffett says that very wealthy people like himself pay lower tax rates than the middle class, thanks to special tax categories for investment income. "While the poor and middle class fight for us in Afghanistan, and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks," he writes. As an example, Buffett said he paid an effective tax rate of 17.4 percent, while people who worked in his office made much less but paid higher effective tax rates of between 33 percent and 41 percent, averaging 36 percent. "If you make money with money, as some of my super-rich friends do, your percentage may be a bit lower than mine. But if you earn money from a job, your percentage will surely exceed mine — most likely by a lot," Buffett wrote. "To understand why, you need to examine the sources of government revenue. Last year about 80 percent of these revenues came from personal income taxes and payroll taxes. The mega-rich pay income taxes at a rate of 15 percent on most of their earnings but pay practically nothing in payroll taxes. It’s a different story for the middle class: typically, they fall into the 15 percent and 25 percent income tax brackets, and then are hit with heavy payroll taxes to boot."

Congressional Budget Office - Distribution of Federal Taxes

Maybe the above will convince you,

My father used to tell me "Son, don't believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see" now that may not have been the best advise he ever gave me but its a good starting point. Perhaps you should start to look at other sources before you call something a fact. I'm just saying at times it makes you look bad.

Exactly, according to the CBO in 2007 the average income tax rate paid by the 1% was 18.8%, the middle class paid an average of 4.2% and the poorest 20% paid a NEGATIVE 5.6% due to checks they received for tax credits. This is the transferring of income from the wealthy and middle class to the poor. RE: Fed. taxes, the CBO found that in '07 the top 1% paid an average rate of 30% compared to 15.1% for the middle class and 4.7% for the lowest earners. The final point the CBO made was that the richest 1% already pay a tax rate that is already twice a high as the middle class. The final conclusion from the CBO was that "Taken as a whole, the federal tax system is progressive." Despite the claims of income inequality, the rich do pay substantially more in taxes, a fact not reported, probably for good reason, in the main stream media. It doesn't fit the agenda.

Kind of makes the flat tax for everyone look fair . Doesn't it? Of course we know it would never make it through Congress.

A flat tax would probably generate more revenue in the long run, there would be less reason to hide money or just let it sit. Wouldn't it be great to have something the size of a postcard be your tax return? No thousands of dollars to BDO to prepare your taxes, just, Gross Income less the tax owed and done! 5 min. tops.

Max, of course I would. But aren't you reaching? Under what circumstances would that happen? Are you suggesting people under exteme duress try to make coherent government policy? I doubt that would work. You could not have someone that was emotionally invested in such a way run the Country for the benefit of all. Now I know very little about torture, thank God, but isn't it counter-productive at some point? Won't they tell you anyhing just to get it to stop? Is any valid info even gathered from such a reprehensible act? I would not want to stoop to the terrorist's level. That is why they are called "Terrorists" and we are not. But you have given me something to think about. Thanks.

So, you two are supporting Herman Cain's 9 9 9 flat tax now?
