Cable TV question

Thursday morning I lost local channels on my tv at work. I mentioned to my incoming replacement that I hadn't had any rooms calling to complain.Then I noticed the reflection of the tv in the breakfast room was running fine. When I came in tonight the tv was on and running . We have an up graded service at the desk from what is available in the rooms. When I switched to get news I am again getting"this channel shoud be available soon. Channels 40 and above are fine. What's up??

This happens to me sometimes after a power outage, or if someone knocks the cable box the wrong way. Generally, I can fix it by unplugging it for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. But - it still takes FOREVER for those channels to come back, it seems.

Also - this happens a lot less now that I replaced the connections with new ones.

When my replacement came in at 8am he was going to unplug it. As he picked the box up it started working. Go figure..
