Unhappy Need help with older female cat

We have a problem with out cats. The female (Angel) does not like male cats, and there's four of those. It's gotten to the point that she refuses to come out of her hidey-hole unless she absolutely has to.

It's not fair to her, and the Gang of Four are getting hostile to her. They tried to beat her up the other night when she returned from the vet's office. It's not the first time it happens, either. They've tried to throw her out of the house at least twice that I know of.

Angel would really be happier as an only cat, or with female companions only. She's older and needs some care since she has stiff joints.

My mother in law wants her gone before she gets back on the 23rd. Euthanized or sent to a shelter, whatever works.

Chris and I really don't like the idea of putting her down, and the SPCA has been of no help - plus they charge you for surrendering cats and we can't afford the fees. I keep trying to contact the Humane Association but they're always closed.

Can anyone give us a hand?

How much is the SPCA asking? Can you post a pic of her please and list any concerns (besides the male hatred, which I find charming) like medical or dietary and if she can go outside, does she have her claws and are her shots up to date and spayed, etc. Type of food preference too.

I will ask around to my cat loving friends.

Good luck though and don't give up just yet.

(I don't like male cats either)

SPCA is asking over $150 because we don't know where her medical records are.

Angel is in good health for her age, FIV and FLV negative, has been spayed, is an indoor cat but has her claws, and can eat regular cat food. She prefers the canned stuff, of course, but dry food is good too.

PM me if you need a contact number!

Have you inquired with Delaware Humane?

"Every animal that DHA intakes is provided with a basic standard of care to prepare them for adoption. The costs can add up to a significant amount for DHA, and our adoption fees help us recover only a portion of these expenses. For more information read our Adoption Fee Fact Sheet.
If DHA determines that tests and/or vaccinations are needed, our staff will administer these treatments for the following fees:
    FeLV/FIV (Feline Leukemia/Feline AIDS) Test (cats/kittens only) $25
    Heartworm Test (dogs/puppies only) $25
    FVR-CP (Feline Distemper) Vaccination $15
    DHP-PV (Canine Distemper) Vaccination $15
    Rabies Vaccination $15
    Bordetella (kennel cough) Vaccination
    $15

Animals requiring vaccinations will need to be assessed by our staff veterinarian. If you are unable to pay for vaccinations and/or testing, please consider a smaller monetary donation or items such as laundry detergent, bleach, blankets, towels, paper towels, etc.
    Scheduling an Assessment

To have one or more animals admitted to DHA, please call the shelter at (302) 571-0111 to schedule an assessment. Assessments are performed Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 am to 3:30 pm. We cannot guarantee in advance that we will be able to accept any animal.
Please be advised that we are NOT able to take walk-in animal surrenders, whether owned or found stray.

PG, I think that just means that you can't just walk in, literally, with your cat and hand them over. I think you just have to call ahead of time to schedule the surrender.

Sorry i'm coming to this thread late, but I was going to suggest putting her on Freecycle. Maybe someone will take her.
