The wife and I saw this movie last night for our 2-Year Anniversary.
It was awesome. My wife said it was her favorite X-Men movie so far.
This movie acts as a prequel to the other X-Men movies. Many "evolved" humans are discovering their abilities, while some already have figured them out (for good and evil).
This movie answers many questions from the other X-men movies:
We see and understand how Magneto was born, and why he believes what he believes. He breaks off from the X-Men to form his own group.
We see and understand what happened to Charles Xavier and where the wheelchair came in.
We see and understand what brought Magneto and Charles together as friends, and what drove them apart.
We see and understand the relationship between Mystique, Magneto, and Charles.
We see and understand why there is tension between humand and X-Men.
We see an early version of Cerebro and how it helps to locate all mutants so Magneto and charles can recruit them.
Great "cameo" appearance by Wolverine, too! Too funny.
Overall, this was an excellent movie. It fills in the gaps you might have as to why certain people are the way they are. Heck, If I was an X-Men with powers, and after the humans tried to do what they did, I'd be on Magneto's side, too.
Warning: even though it's PG-13, I wouldn't want my young child watching this movie. There's plenty of sexual stuff, scantily clothed women, drugs and alcohol consumption, gentlemen's club scenes, profanity, and lots of people being killed, sometimes horrifically, in this movie.
But, if you're a teenager or older, go watch this movie. It was awesome.
