A 63-year-old Long Neck woman woke up to a surprise May 24.
State police said the Ritter Drive resident walked into her living room about 7 a.m. to observe an open front door and a man sleeping on her couch.
She woke the man, who was later identified as Bradley Furchak, 29, of Millsboro, and informed him she would be calling the police.
Furchak jumped up and fled while clutching a beer can, police said.
Troopers arrived and deducted Furchak had cut a screen on the porch to access the home. They began to canvass the neighborhood, and an officer saw Furchak walking on School Lane.
Furchak made eye contact with the trooper while taking a few more swigs of beer, police said.
Police searched Furchak and found six prescription pills containing 650 milligrams of ibuprofen with codeine; the pills were not prescribed, police said.
Furchak was charged with burglary, theft, possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief and being drunk on a public roadway; he was remanded to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $2,250 secured bond.

I'm not a beer drinker. Now if we're talking margatitas on the rocks maybe.
