Rehoboth to vote on patio
ordinance changes in March
The commissioners must first pass a resolution at the Friday, Feb. 18 regular meeting, setting a date for a public hearing, when the commissioners will vote.
Restaurant patios and decks will remain open until final call if the Rehoboth Beach commissioners suspend the city’s patio ordinance at the commissioners’ Friday, March 18 meeting.
The patio ordinance is part of the zoning code, so a public hearing is required for any changes.
Suspending the patio ordinance will allow restaurants with patios to serve patrons on the patio as long as the restaurant serves food.
Without the change, patrons must leave the patio by 11 p.m., although some restaurants were grandfathered so patrons could stay longer.
The suspension will last until Dec. 31, unless the commissioners vote to repeal the ordinance before then.
