MILLSBORO, Del.- A Neighborhood Watch group said their Millsboro community is being targeted by thieves.
Floyd Morton, the chairman of the Neighborhood Watch at Mariner's Cove, said there have been sixteen burglaries in the past week, eight of them occurring early Thursday morning.
"The break-ins are primarily vacation homes," Morton said. "They're hitting all the empty homes on two streets here in Mariner's Cove."
Morton said the houses targeted have been on Pine Drive and Joanne Drive, and were all vacant at the time of burglary. He said the thief or thieves pried open back or side doors and then ransacked the empty homes.
Neighbors said on Thursday the crime outbreak worried them.
"It's unnerving," Donna Markert said. "It happens while people are home and we don't hear anything. What's going to happen next?"

Maybe they need adjust the hours they patrol. Breakins are not uncommon in the resort areas in Sussex but this year it has gone wild.
