Dover Mall merchants charged with peddling counterfeit items
Two merchants were arrested Wednesday at their Dover Mall business after undercover officers seized more than 400 counterfeit items they were selling, police said today.
Shortly before 2 p.m., officers from the drug and Safe Streets units conducted an undercover sting operation at the mall’s Cool Topics store.
Officers recovered 414 pieces of counterfeit merchandising bearing the trademarks of the NFL, MLB, DC Shoes Inc. and Fox Racing worth about $10,350, Dover police spokesman Capt. Tim Stump said.
Liang Hua Lin, 32, of the first block of Golfview Drive in Newark, and Wei Chen, 24, of the 400 block of N. Dupont Highway in Dover, were each charged with five counts of trademark counterfeiting.
They were released after posting bails of $3,500 unsecured and $4,000 secured, respectively, pending a court hearing.
