Two Salisbury, Md., men were charged early today with starting a fight in a Rehoboth Beach convenience store that spilled into the parking lot, state police said.
It happened about 12:05 a.m. when a 34-year-old Federalsburg, Md., man was in a bathroom stall at the Wawa in the 35000 block of Wolf Neck Road and heard Keenan White, 19, and Richard Perry, 24, say they wanted to rob someone, said police Cpl. Bruce Harris.
When the victim left the stall, Perry tried to block his path but he managed to get out and join his 27-year-old girlfriend from Denton, Md., at the counter.
Perry and White followed the male victim and tried to challenge him to a fight, Harris said.
When the two victims tried to get to their car, the female victim, who is pregnant, was pushed by Perry. The male victim was punched several times by Perry and White and thrown against his car door, damaging it, Harris said.
Perry, White and two others drove off in a Chevrolet Lumina but were stopped on the Coastal Highway.
The driver was cited for a traffic offense and a passenger was charged with underage drinking.
Perry was charged with unlawful imprisonment and and seven other offenses and was released on $2,500 bail. White was charged with offensive touching and six other ofenses and is being held in Sussex Correctional Institution.
