    What do you suggest?

It's pretty obvious the board has slowed down considerably, what do you suggest we do to get it more active?

    1. More tie in to the very popular social media sites.
    2. Maybe a re-org of the forum categories. Trim the dead ones and take suggestions for new categories.

I dont see the problem, I dont see it from your perspective either Chase. The "news man" thing is great as far as Im concerned. It starts conversation, and as I said before it allows me to post to a article I maybe interested in but dont want everyone to know Im a nut.

I suggest you drink 4 or 5 beers and relax man :-)

1 is a good idea, i will try more for sure.
2 i did this not too long ago, and specific suggestion there? im all ears (eyes)

Max, i think anyone can see the site in considerably slower then it used to be, we used to average 400 posts per day and we are down to 100-150 on average.

Two of the most popular sites (Facebook & Twitter) seem to be missing from the "Link Back" option at the top of each thread. Some Facebook and @twitter exposure couldn't hurt.

Also, the blogging feature seems all but dead here. The last post seems to be nearly 6 months old. Perhaps some of our more prolific writer types could be enticed to spout on a more regular schedule (for some incentive - TD t-shirts, backrubs, etc.).

I'll have to go back over the forum list when I have more time to think.

    Re: What do you suggest?

I'm not against the NewsMan thing... but it was pretty overwhelming to look at 100 new posts at the same time. Hard to have anything jump out and grab your attention because of the volume.

My lack of posting has more to do with having to work for a living these days.

    Re: What do you suggest?

tom we do have the tweet this button on every post, i will look at adding facebook somewhere too.

i agree that the news man posted a lot, this wont be a regular thing and if i do it again i will cut it down a bit. my decision to do it today was innfluenced by a new member i had a chat with about activity. i am usually firmly against the auto post. this was just a shot/jolt to try and get some convos and new content going.

i also changed the way the links are set up on the site to help with seo a bit although i think are seo is pretty damn good as it is.

    Re: What do you suggest?

i just added a facebook button and there has been a tweet button there for a while. you can add you twitter acct to your usercp in options and then tweet button on any post. not sure 100% how the fb button works as fb is blocked here at work.

i will be starting a social media campaign the best way i can, hopefully tonight.

    use the buttons peeps!

The FB Share is just like it is for any other site.

    Re: What do you suggest?

    My thoughts.....................

We've stopped trying to go out and gather new members. (I am very guilty of this) We used to have cards and hit other websites and such and get the word out. We've stopped.

Re-doing the forum headers. Right now all news gets lost in one General News section. I'd like to see a State, National & World and Entertainment News for example. Break them out.

Maybe a refresh of games in the Arcade. There might be some new and interesting games we could add and old stale ones we can remove.

We never revisited the TalkDelaware Awards for this year. Maybe that would help pick things up.

I need to get a t-shirt...I can wear it to the gym and try to strum up business. I think people like reading shirts and more often than not I get a comment on a t-shirt I am wearing (at the gym). Might help.

More meet-ups would probably make me post more. There would be more to talk about.

I can spray paint "Talkdelaware.com" on every car in my parking complex if you think that will help.

LOL - I'm thinking I'm actually sick of seeing some of you so often and I might post more if that whole 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' came into play.

What about a membership drive - with a contest attached. Like we had in the past.

You invite new members, they have to have 10 quality posts for you to get credit, etc....
