    Cop "arrests" daughter's boy friend

The San Jose Police Department may agree. Its internal affairs division is investigating the incident, which the boy's parents captured on cell phone video, a police department spokesman said.
The incident occurred on Aug. 30, according to ABC San Francisco station KGO-TV, whose media partner The San Jose Mercury News obtained the video.
The officer had just found out that his daughter had sex with her boyfriend, who she had been dating since middle school, according to the newspaper.
The boy's parents said the officer showed up at their house in his uniform, riding his police department motorcycle, told the boy he was going to arrest him for sexual assault and put him in handcuffs.
"It does not bode well for you. Do you know what that means? No? Not a good thing that the person you had sex with is a cop's daughter. The district attorney will probably file charges," the cop is heard saying in the video.Read full article

One, this guy is in serious shit for abuse of authority.

Two, he just absolutely destroyed any chance of a good post-adolescent relationship with his daughter.

To me it sounded like the boys parents knew and had given permission for the scare tactics. He should not have abused his position as an officer, but if it was my kid I'd have let him scare the crap out of him too.

Alas...I bravo the action...The police behave well manner...With so many teen sex problem right now... It may look abuse of the authority but with good intention is always should give the benefit of the doubt...If you revisit the old way we teach kids, this methods were common back then and very effective.

So it's OK to use your authority/inside access to mess with people that offend you or your family?

    I don't think so.

No Tom, it's not ok but what dad wouldn't want to do anything in his power to be sure his daughter or son was safe. I can sympathize with dad on this one.

Read my context properly... Didn't I said 'well manner' and 'good intention'? Everything has a silverlining... The society are lack of common sense nowadays, especially in US...One this case, common sense sounds justify to me... a every good way to teach this kid to be responsible...

Sure, he wants to make sure his daughter was safe. This was done after the fact with planning. This is abuse of power.

Re: Cop "arrests" daughter's boy friend

Seems like they're only talking to the boy about what happened. They didn't say the girl was raped, so wouldn't she be just as much at fault?

From what I've seen (not just in this case) the girls are the 'victims' and the boys are always at fault.

I've got 3 grown boys, 2 that are married and have a family now, but there were times that I saw personally, girls would come on to them and they'd say no.

Maybe the cop should have had a talk with his daughter before this happened.

Wow Jtan sounds like a Christine O'Donnell voter

I think what happened her was a bad case of scared straight gone wrong, He(the cop) should have sent someone else, and some how it seems as thought the parents at least the dad was in agreement with the cop. Something is not right here or we haven't seen or heard the whole story. Aside from the amazingly stupid decision to do this himself, the cop was trying to do the right thing, if it was my son I would be glad he was there to "Talk" and not arrest him. Lets face it kids have sex, a lot of us did, and once that happens the best you can do is talk to your kids get em birth control methods whatever. But for shits sake dont make a bad situation worse by not thinking, I bet the next day he was thinking "what the f*** was I thinkin"

Karen, I'm guessing here but I'd be willing to bet the cops daughter had her a** in a sling at home too. I don't think dad would be willing to let her off the hook either.

I hope so. I hate to see the boys/guys usually being at fault.

He did not hurt the kid. He did get the kid's attention. He might have abused his authority . If you had ever had a pregnant teen in your family you might not think this was so bad.

I didn't say I might not do the same thing, that doesn't mean it wouldn't still be an abuse of authority.

I personally don't see anything wrong with what he did. The first time my dad met DH he told him, and I quote: "son, if you hurt her or my grandkids I won't chase you I'll just shoot you with my goverment issue".

I believe in the news clip it said BOTH kids were charged with sex with a minor or something to that effect. I agree, both kids need to be held accountable.
