    Re: Paintball

We used to get about 30 guys together from school and their friends and play on a Saturday morning. We had a blast.

We would also get small pistols and carry them into school and play assassin. This was way before schools had a no tolorance policy.

I used to have everything. The gun, mask, cases of paintballs, a cronometer, a huge tank for refilling the smaller tanks for the gun.... everything!

We used to ride around the neighborhood on our 70's style bikes with the big handle bars and sissy bars and shoot each other with those Daisy single pump BB guns.

    Loved this gun. Highly accurate.

The Tourneys used to keel the paintball speeds down to 290fps. These usually were not fast enough to tear clothing. They'd hurt but not cause breaking of the skin unless hit within 10 feet.

Outside of the Tourneys is where you had to watch out for because all the guns you could adjust the velocity on the guns. I'd see guys crank it up to hurt someone but a gun cranked up would cause the paintball to spin crazily out of the gun or cause the ball to break in the barrel.

I remember there was a paintball out there I think called the black widow that had a harder shell and was not supposed to break as easily in order to cause more pain.
Every field I ever played on was chronoed at 300fps. Yes you are correct typically not fast enough to rip clothes or break skin unless at close range. This dude was about 3 feet from me, and came over top the bunker (illegal), not too mention he was shooting hot (illegal).

Yeah it was very easy to crank up the velocity, especially on the cocker. All you had to do was remove the Bolt, and place an allen key in to crank it up. IN tourney they would pat you down to make sure you did not have anything to sue to crank it up. Best part is though you did not have to chrono before entering the field. So it made no sense to me.

Black Widow yes remember them. Never used them though, as you always had to use field paint, and for the tourneys you either had to buy paint from them, or they would tell you what you can buy and use that. They did check that though, and they mainly used Team Colors. So that was great, since not only was it cheap but you could find it any where. The only issue came when they wanted specific teams that were already sold out. Zap paint was OK to mess around with, other then that it was junk!

You ever freeze any? Have ate a few in my day too, they taste nasty as well. Sometimes you would got plunked in the mask and it would just splatter right into your mouth, ugh that taste is foul.

Hey I am not as old as some of the people on here, so I resent that....lol Also, I am still young at heart, and that is all that matters to me! You have to keep the kid in you to stay young forever, that is my motto, and I am sticking to it!

    Re: Paintball

God, I am really dating myself here... I played paintball back in the day with a group of guys, we were pretty serious about it, we played just about every weekend, I think the place was down near Beck's Pond. My gun was a " Splat Master" and at the time it was THE weapon of choice. One shot, had to cock the gun before firing the next shot, only held one tube of 10 paintballs and one small C02 cartridge. Had a blast though.....today's Paintball supplies are so much better!! I have not played in years though but when my son gets old enough I am sure he'll drag me out there for an old timers match.

Gotcha! was a great movie..starring Anthony Edwards. He was caught up in some international spy ring or something...got wrapped up with a CIA agent posing as a Czech woman,...turns out was really just Cheryl Brewster from Pittsburgh. Not sure WHY I remember that !!!!!!!
