Is There A Doctor Or Nurse In The House?

I have some medical questions and looking for the Medical expert.

I was sparring and think I broke a knuckle or a finger but didn't get it looked at. Now it is almost 3 months later and now every time I pick something up heavy, hit it funny or spar it hurts again and feels like it is broken again.

What is the impact of not fixing a broken finger?

I'm not a medical doctor nor have I ever played one on TV, but I have experience with broken knuckles: MY OWN.

I don't know if you've broken anything or not. However, if you did but didn't have it repaired, it sounds like it has healed itself, only not in a GOOD way.

Again, I can't diagnose it, but, more likely than not, the only way to fix it now is surgically; they'd probable re-break it and set it properly. Good luck.

And now for the bad news...

Is it crooked? My Dad had a broken knuckle that he never had looked at...he's fine except it's crooked.

it is not crooked, well not as much as the other fingers are, but it is now bigger than the other knuckles. Not huge, but bigger than before and bigger than the others.

Everytime I think I've broken one of my hands I just find another bear. And then I punch it in the face.

Like Joe....I'm neither a doctor or a nurse or even play either on tv. However, I do have arthritis and my understanding is that when you injure a joint and don't get it repaired (sometimes even if you do get it repaired), it can come back to haunt you later in life. I'd get it looked at.

America is an idea, but it's an idea that brings with it some baggage, like power brings responsibility. It's an idea that brings with it equality, but equality even though it's the highest calling, is the hardest to reach. The idea that anything is possible, that's one of the reasons why I'm a fan of America. - Bono, Commencement University of Pennsylvania May 17, 2004

Just curious, did you jam it or bang in on something, maybe both?

I wouldn't call it art as it wasn't very artful.

    it was combined

Ouch. I feel ya. Took Kempo for 7 years and taekwondo for 1 and all the injuries that came with it. IMO, your finger wasn't quite healed and you keep messing up the healing process everytime you agitate it. Get it xrayed. I don't think you broke it, you can still move it right? Just hurts like hell? Ligiments or tendons are probably the culprit. Hands take a long time to heal because you're constantly using them. Take some anti-inflammitory to see if that helps with the pain. Caution, this is just my opinion from personal experience. Again, get the xray to play it safe.
