    Global Climate Disruption Discussions

I figured I'd start a new thread to throw all "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" discussions in instead of creating new topics (similar to the Weather Discussions thread).

Pro or Con, throw it here.

Maldives is very high on my list. I've always wanted to go there and now that it's about to go under water... I'm pushing it up to the top of my list.

Although I am indisposed to accept popularity or authority as proving the truth of opinions, numbers and credentials have been advanced as a reason to close the debate. Debate with fearless and skeptical eyes is essential on a subject we are being asked to sacrifice uncounted billions of dollars, changing the worlds economies and our very lifestyles for.

Here we go again...throwing punch on the global warming stuff again...like it or not, the planet is warming up. Forget about the winter blast for the last couple months...whether you would like to say this winter blast is prove global warming ain't real and all craps... The icebergs and glaciers melting are much bigger than this cold winter... Do you guys already forgot we have few years of mild winter? Some of you even mention about wasting money in going green... money is worthless when you got no greens where you live.
Get up and pack your bags to visit some of European countries like Swiss, Sweden and many more that have been adapted to green concepts for many years...that hopefully, will open your mind a little bit...or maybe not...

yep, here we go again. I agree a lot of people do not think the earth is warming. I do, but I do NOT believe man has had the impact some say. jtan> we need to throw punches at this thing because a wrong move on global warming and our economy will be ruined to a point of no return, so for me I say "punch away" since I work on the fringe of the green industry let me tell you my experience with some green projects.

Grey water return - sucks it breaks more then it runs (its a brand new system)

waterless urinals - good stuff here it saves 40,000 gallons of water a year thats a return on an investment.

    Compact florescent lights - Bad

    LED's - Good

My point is this, with all that has come out recently about global warming it looks as though we may have been sold a load of crap, and before I want to put American industry in handcuffs again I want proof.

    Re: Global Warming Discussions

Ok, my views on the subject:

    Global warming: yes,it's happening.

Are humans to blame? This one's a tossup. Yes, there's a lot of stuff up in the atmosphere humanity is to blame for. On the other hand, the Earth's climate cycles from one extreme to the other over the course of millennia. Sunspots have a hand (spot) in it, like the Little Ice Age that coincided with the low sunspot cycle known as the Maunder Minimum. I'm pretty sure this severly cold weather is related to the volcano in the Philippines spewing ash into the atmosphere.

Can we do anything about it? Also doubtful, but dammit, we gotta do what we can.

It's not "save the planet". The planet can get along just fine with or without us. We're the ones who are in trouble.

I don't know where Gore is hiding, but this is why he is hiding there :

There is a chain of self referential pseudo science that the main body of the Anthropogenic Global Warming movement is based on. Until recently we, the great unwashed, were not permitted to see the actual data or computer models. Assurances were given to us that there was no more substantive debate or serious questions left on the validity of the conclusions of the elites and their pet theory. Very recently there was a 'leak' of 20+ years of emails, reports and most revealingly - computer source code from the East Anglia University's prestigious Climate Research Unit. The emails illustrate and document institutionalized bias and systematic discrediting of dissenting voices in the search for science in the domain of climate research. The computer source code is far less subjective than the emails even, and clearly expresses selective and 'CORRECTIVE' data modification in order to make the results fit the theory. This entirely abrogates the principal of the Scientific Method (Scientific method - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). The CRU models are the watershed for an entire family of models used foundationally in Anthropogenic Global Warming theory (and Gore's Academy Award winning and Nobel Prize winning movie, An Inconvenient Truth). Now that they are discredited or at the least highly suspect in their methods, the conclusions based on them are caught in a domino effect. Gore, like any clever politician is waiting for the dust to settle on this event before he can formulate a new set of lies which can not be directly disproved in a timely fashion.

I think the real blame here is the dimensions in which we are present. Without the conception of time, space, elements, and the fact we're biological creatures that are stuck on a rock of iron and silicone thats traveling through an empty void but locked into orbit around solar mass of nuclear fused hydrogen and helium that constantly emits radioactive energy to our heavenly body of terra in which all it has to protect itself from is a thin layer of atmospheric gases.

Why do liberals believe in global warming and why do conservatives think it is bullshit?
This is the climate and it does not have anything to do with politics.

Because Liberals are always trying to fix things that aren't yet broken, and conservatives don't think they can ever die.
