A woman pedestrian was killed this morning in Christiana after being struck by a sport-utility vehicle, said Cpl. Peter Small, a spokesman with New Castle County paramedics.
State police are on the scene investigating in the westbound lanes of Del. 273 at University Plaza and say motorists should avoid the area.
Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 6 a.m., Small said.
The victim is said to be a woman approximately 40-years-old, Small said.
Paramedics rushed the woman to Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Small said.
State police are investigating the accident but have released no details.
