Although you better check on that update thing and the PS3 being the best Blu-Ray out there. Sony has made one better and I have it in my house, another reason why I got rid of the Piece of Shit 2, or 3 or whatever else they make. (Sorry you made fun of my system) Not a new system either it is a new project, for your games, and that is called Natal. Don't knock it because, Sony is trying something with there controllers and Eye as well. Trying to beat Microsoft to it, probably not going to happen.
microsoft is copying sony hence the playstation eye toy it was on the ps2 and offered the same thing as project natal all it is is an updated version. the ps3 came with motion control 2 ways the new eye toy and six axis. yes sony has all ready gotten it out first with the eye toy for ps2. and yes sony's new motion control is going to release spring 2010. project natal will be lucky to get a 2010 release at all.

I have heard that Natal will release in 2010. The Eye Toy, if I am correct it did not follow your every movement to play a game. That is what Natal is going to do. Facial Expressions, Moving Arms, Legs, you name it, it will copy it and put it into the game. So really it is like a Wii controller, and Eye Toy combined. I personally do not care for it, unless they put out something that may really intrigue me, I just do not see it right now though. As the Six Axis is pretty sweet, I think they could really utilize it a bit more in games.

I also believe that you are wrong with the backwards compatibilty. The 60gb (I think, being as though they released 3 different ones at launch) was the only one that had it at launch. Also, the only reason why they keep selling the PS2 is because they keep making games for it. Microsoft released the 360 then slowly started to stop making games for it. So they could get more sales on the 360. Smart move I say, get more people to buy the new stuff and dump the old stuff. My boss was looking for one, since his son has tons of PS2 games, and that is exactly what he was told, and confirmed when he researched it.

10 year system is also wrong, I actually just read a pretty good article in I think Game Informer a couple of months ago, and it said that every system that is made is actually made to last approximately 4 years. That is when they like to put new systems out. Sony, is just slow and likes to wait to size up the competition and then say look what we have, and it's better then theirs. That is because they waited so they could make it better. Only waited because they knew they could not compete, and had to try and one up the competition.

    2. the ps3 does upconvert dvd's (look in the settings then turn it on)
Only gets the updates regularly if it is connected to the internet, same thing as a Blu-Ray Player, and the only reason it would be the only one, would be because it is a game system. Mine updates by itself as long as it is connected. Too many updates for my liking though. 360 updates maybe once every couple of months, or maybe I should a couples of times a year.

Upconverting, is not what I was told when shopping for a B-RP. Must have been in an update.

Does the PS3 have BD-Live yet, I am sure it does but had to be in an update.

    Re: Fat-free PS3 ready for it's debut

    1. it was on ps2 no it didn't do the facial expressions but you moved your arms and legs like natal but i'm not a fan of motion control either.

    2. just stating a fact

3.no both 20 and 60 gb had full 100% backwards compatibility at launch (there were only 2 skus available) the first batch of 80gb's had about 85-90% backwards compatibility now none do.

    4. when the ps3 came out bd live wasn't available so yes it got an update with it in there it was also the first blu-ray player to get bd live. the ps3 was always able to upconvert it was also the best up converter at it's launch, no update.

    5. how is a ten year life cycle wrong the PS1=10 years, PS2=10 years, PS3=will be 10 years. sony likes to wait and size up the competition lmao i don't think so they had no competition until the 360 came out. who do you think made the 360 and PS3? Where do you think the hardware in the 360 came from? They're 3 companies that made both the 360 and the PS3, i'll give you the first two IBM and Toshiba, who do you think is the last one??

6.the 360 had a year head start in US in europe had a year in a half if you compare the first year sales of the 360 and the ps3 the ps3 sold more the 360 in japan is almost none existent. in europe the 360 is leading by less than 1 million (after a year and a half head start.) the only place it's selling is in the US and the ps3 is catching up. the PS2 alone has outsold the 360 so has the PSP

In your own words, it has been out how long? You compared the 360 being out earlier then the PS3, so you can also say the same thing about the PS2. PSP come on now, you are grasping at strings now. It is a handheld, you can not compare Console to Handheld. Two entirely completely different things.

How about you compare the PSP to the DS. See how Sony does against that, probably about the same. But they are targeting two different genres on that one.

you said sony so i gave sony products i know what you meant just being a smart ass.

im not grasping at straws either this chart states what i already said yes in overall sales the 360 has sold more but that's only because of the year (in some cases a year and a half) head start but this shows that week to week or year to year the ps3 outsold the 360 9 or 10 months out of the year and when it didn't the 360 had a price drop

    Re: Fat-free PS3 ready for it's debut

The straws was merely about you comparing a Console to a Handheld. About sales you can also say that since the 360 has been out longer you can expect the sales to decline. As the PS3 has been out a little shorter the sales will still be holding a little steady.

Dude that burns bad....lol. Nice pic though, I have seen that one up close and personnel myself...lol.

just an FYI though, I am sure there is a thread about XBOX somewhere on here, or even in a thread that is about a game on XBOX. That would probably be the correct thread to post this in, we wanted want to get off topic or anything.

You had a pretty good debate going on with Zapata about PS3 vs. 360, so I figured I would throw my hat in the ring with the #1 reason the PS3 is better. Not that I really think that, I like my PS3 and 360 equally, lol.

Of course, I can also spam those other threads with that image too

We have a PS3 60 gig so even if I wanted to get the new sleeker version, I can't.

    COD MW2 only 24 days.

    Re: Fat-free PS3 ready for it's debut

Just got the new PS3 yesterday. I already have one but............well, let me explain. I bought a Sony BDP-301 blu-ray player back in 2008. It is very picky on which discs it will play and I've upgraded the firmware numerous times. Sometimes this thing will freeze up or won't play the disc at all, let alone the long load time. When I got the first PS3, I was thrilled at it's blu-ray performance. Fast loading, never a freeze up and never a problem. Plus the firware upgrades are done automatically through my wireless internet. Anyway, I was out yesterday looking to replace the one that has been giving me problems and all the stand alones I was interested in were a little expensive and required a "doggle" for the wireless. Not sure what a doggle is. Anyway, before I made a decision, I returned home to research some of the models I was interested in. Funny thing was most if not all the reviews were comparing the models to the PS3. So I figured I already had one and was happy with the 80gb so why not just get another one with all the extras for the $300? I had a $25 reward coupon already and bingo, I'm using the new one as a stand alone player and it's playing just fine in 7.1 surround. My standard DVDs look and sound great.

Was exactly going to be my response. There are actually a couple of different techniques, but if you try them and they don't work, and you have to send it in anyway, and they find out. Warranty is voided.

Also Josef about your pic real quick, my RRod was not them, it was top 2 and bottom right. 1, 2, and 4.

Now, to get back on topic here. Congrat's on your recent PS3 purchase. At least now you can play games in either room if you would like.

Yeah, back on topic, ever since the price drop PS3 sales have been WAY up. I think the PS3 actually outsold the Wii in September!

Good way to spin that one, as almost every household already has a Wii. So naturally the sales will be down. As the sales for PS3 will climb as not that many people have one, and for the price it definitely is a good buy.
