Re: Kids say the darndest things!!!!!

My 14 yr old and I were talking in the car the other day about her starting high school and which friends from middle school were going to be attending the same school, she was accepted into a VoTech. I thought the conversation was funny, sad, but funny.
Me: So do you know many kids that are going to your school?
C: A few. ......she then named a few kids
Me: Well that's good so you'll know some people the first day. You'll have kids from all the other middle schools too, not just our area.
C: Yeah, I really like being friends with (so and so) though. I don't have to be dumb.
    Me: What????
C: Well with most kids I have to make myself dummer and not use all of my vocabulary to have a conversation. I like that I can just talk to (so and so) and she understands what I'm talking about.

You can only make a mistake once. After that it's a choice.

Re: Kids say the darndest things!!!!!

This is the conversation I had with my son (D) the other day....

D - Mom, remember that movie we watched a couple of weeks ago?
    Me - no
D - Oh c'mon sure you do....there were these kids and a mom
    Me - still don't remember
D - and the kids got stolen
    Me - no
D - and the mom was REALLY upset
    Me - still no
D - but then they found the kids at the end
Me - D, that sounds like a Lifetime movie
D - no Mom, it only lasted about 2 hours

America is an idea, but it's an idea that brings with it some baggage, like power brings responsibility. It's an idea that brings with it equality, but equality even though it's the highest calling, is the hardest to reach. The idea that anything is possible, that's one of the reasons why I'm a fan of America. - Bono, Commencement University of Pennsylvania May 17, 2004

My daughter was being punished and had her cell phone taken away by her mother. She was upset and venting to me about it. She says to me "did your mom take your cell away from you when you were my age?"
