    Re: What makes you happy?

My Facebook friends may have already heard this but I started 2012 by accidentally spilling a full 20 ounce mug of hot tea directly on to my Macbook Pro. I did everything I could to stop the damage but it shut down about 30 seconds after the disaster. There was tea dripping from everywhere.... usb slots, disc drive, back seam, battery compartment.... it was bad.

I couldn't make it to Christiana or a Best Buy before closing (this was Sunday) so I had to leave it to drip dry overnight.

So.... why am I posting this in the "What Makes Me Happy Thread"?

Well, Justin at the Apple Genius Bar checked it out and started it up last night. After an extensive, system wide check, everything is functioning normally!!! I am literally shocked and amazed. Oh... and I wasn't charged for any of this. I was convinced it was a goner, I had even priced out a replacement online and placed it in my cart.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything keeps running smoothly........ ... it can still shit a brick.

I'm glad I don't use sugar in my tea or I would be dealing with sticky keys and a much bigger mess.

    Re: What makes you happy?

the only issue usually now is corrosion over time after the liquid dries on the components.

if you ask a phone pro, say you drop your smartphone in a puddle or in the pool. you take it out immediately. soak/swish it in iso alcohol, take it apart as best you can (back cover, battery, etc) and let it sit in rice for a few days.

the alcohol displaces the water and dries clean and fast, and the rice speeds up the drying process. the water alone will dry, but there is a chance that corrosion (rust) will set in though.

What makes me happy is that my sister in law is finally in labor!!! Woo hooo! She is 2 days over due. We've been waiting for this baby since before Christmas. This one is a surprise and I can't wait to see if I'm going to have another niece or a nephew. I'm so excited I can't sleep. lol I just hope she has an easy labor this time. My niece ended up being a Cesarean section. If it's a boy I've already got the drum set all picked out for next Christmas!!! mwhahahahhahaha j/k But it's fun to watch my brother cringe when I threaten to buy a set.

My cool new Cell Phone, the HTC Rezound. Beats audio is beast, and the headphones ROCK! Will take them over my Bose headphones any day, I think they are well worth $100. Sense 3.5 has to be the best thing out since a peanut butter and fluff sandwich. Oh I am so giddy right now. This phone upgrade was well worth it! Was hard giving up the trusty old T-Bolt, but right now I am glad I did.

    Congrats Bellicose!
I should have updated my earlier post sooner. I now have a NEPHEW!!! He was 6lbs 4oz and 19.5 inches long. And a natural birth. The men of the family are thrilled to have more testosterone around. lol My son was so happy to finally have another boy in the family that he cried. He didn't want anyone else to hold his cousin when we went to visit them in the hospital.

I received a sewing basket for Christmas with a hideous pattern on it. My temptation was to donate it. Instead I recovered it with a piece of fabric from an old skirt. I'm ridiculously pleased with myself.

I got my laptop back! It now has a smaller SSD instead of a regular hard drive, but it boots up a lot faster.

    Re: What makes you happy?

The two most recent happiest days of my life are, the birth FINALLY of my one and only granddaughter (The most beautiful little girl in the world BTW) and the surprise visit by my daughter and her BF the day after Christmas when I thought it was going to be the first Christmas, EVER, without her, they drove from Wilm. to SC to surprise me that Monday morning. Life is Good!

    Re: What makes you happy?

Being able to afford (through a generous payment plan) to buy a "sniper" rifle through a friend. It was a quick decision, which also puts my AR-15 build on hold for now. But at the price it was being offered, I simply could NOT pass it up. Add to that the fact that if I end up not liking it, or if I want the money back to put towards my original project, I have a list of people who would buy it from me.

Also came with an Eagle drag bag and 2 boxes of Winchester .308 ammo.

It's a 10 FP but left-handed. I'm a righty, but like I said at that price I couldn't pass it up. At least not to check it out and shoot it for a while.
