| Re: Soldier Dedication Thread I dedicate this post to my father, who served 25 years in the Delaware Army National Guard as a full-time career officer. He entered during the Viet Nam war and served all the way through the first Gulf conflict.
He died in 1991 of cancer while still in the service of his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Signal Corps. He was, always, an officer and a gentleman.
I miss you, Daddy. And I will always be proud of you.
I also send many thanks to the following people:
* my paternal grandfather, who served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet during World War II
*my adopted maternal grandfather, who served with the U.S. Army in Europe as George Patton's driver.
* my paternal uncle, who served in the U.S. Navy about the Aircraft Carrier John F. Kennedy
* my SO's brother, who not only served 7 years in the U.S. Air Force, but has served one tour with the Delaware Air National Guard in Afghanistan and will soon be returning for another
Gentlemen, I salute you.
