Easy, if you see a person post that helps you, Click the rep button on the top of the post and give them some rep. Negative rep is very rarely given, but if you feel it calls for it, thats up to you.

the little green "pips" under a persons info on the right side is your rep, as you get more you get more rep.

just kinda shows people you are a helpful person......

Reputation is very similar to experience. Reputation is divided into a number of different levels for which players must earn reputation points to progress through. Higher reputation levels generally require more points than the previous level to progress. The exception is , which spans a very large number of reputation points.
Reputation points, just like experience points, are gained through quests and killing various mobs. Unlike experience, it is possible to lose reputation points with some factions, either by killing members of the faction or by assisting rival factions.
For rival factions, gaining reputation with one will normally decrease reputation with the other, but at a greater rate. For instance, if you kill a magram centaur, you will gain 20 points of reputation from the gelkis, but will lose 100 points from the magram...

Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners, searches, pat downs, etc. Have an appropriate booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but WILL detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

I remember back in the days of Rep, when we used to get 100's and 100's of posts a day, and people posted funny ish all the time. Ahhhhh, memories....

Yeah I miss the little messages you could send too. I got some pretty funny comments on those at times too. Yeah those were the days...........

I don't even care if the rep points show up or accumulate. I just liked being able to give people rep messages and to receive same.

I try to read everyones posts, but some posts make me LOL those are the ones that got reps,didnt matter who it was...And i think when someone said something i thought was great or something i believed in i would rep them to, lets them no their post meant something to me whether funny or serious, it was a way to ackknowledge a person on a personal level,IMO

oh god those stars are ugly....will get better ones...

That is what I used the Thanks for, so what is the difference? I am trying to learn about the Rep, since when I joined they had just taken it down. So will the Thanks be taken away now?

When you hit thank you that is it, no personal touch, when you gave a rep you could add a comment, about why you gave them a rep,or why you agreed with thier post, just more of a personal touch to a thanks..

The little green tick under your amount of thanks would grow and after so many you would get a gold star, took alot of rep comments to get a gold star , but when you got it , it was awesome.
