We may all be space aliens: study

by Marlowe Hood, Yahoo News Fri Jun 13, 2:04 PM ET

This file picture shows a meteorite crater in Peru. (AFP/FIle/Andina)

Genetic material from outer space found in a meteorite in Australia may well have played a key role in the origin of life on Earth, according to a study to be published Sunday.

European and US scientists have proved for the first time that two bits of genetic coding, called nucleobases, contained in the meteor fragment, are truly extraterrestrial.

Previous studies had suggested that the space rocks, which hit Earth some 40 years ago, might have been contaminated upon impact.

Both of the molecules identified, uracil and xanthine, "are present in our DNA and RNA," said lead author Zita Martins, a researcher at Imperial College London.
RNA, or ribonucleic acid, is another key part of the genetic coding that makes up our bodies.

These molecules would also have been essential to the still-mysterious alchemy that somehow gave rise, some four billion years ago, to life itself.

--------------------------------------------------------

Very interesting and very plausible to me that the origins of life could happen as the result of a catastrophic disturbance on Earth from outer space. This also fits in with my ideas of God and how He works in mysterious ways...

It wasn't a meteorite. It was the Genesis Device. And this isn't Earth, it's Seti Alpha 5.

Re: We may all be space aliens: study

Actually it life came from somewhere else. It would make sense with the bible. All depends on which angle you come from.

Re: We may all be space aliens: study

In Genesis. God said let us make man in OUR likeness under OUR image. Doesn't sound like an omnipotent being speaking on his own behalf. Also in Genesis. Adam And Eve weren't the only people on Earth. It speaks as if the planet is populated already. But those two were a special breed.

Throughout the old testament has been filled with "angels" influencing mankind.

Angel by definition means:

1 a: a spiritual being superior to humans in power and intelligence; especially : one in the lowest rank in the celestial hierarchy (Source: Webster)

Celestial meaning: 2: of or relating to the sky or visible heavens <the sun, moon, and stars are celestial bodies> (Source: Webster)

When Adam & Eve ate the fruit God said:

Genesis 3:22. And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

There are more. I'll be back with a bit more if interested.

Re: We may all be space aliens: study

(Genesis 4:17) And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

Where does Cain's wife come from if there were only 2 people on Earth? Those of whom only bore 2 sons at the time?

The better question is:

If God created Adam and Eve who in turn gave birth to two sons in Cain and Abel, and assuming a truth in that Cain killed Abel and was banished - where did everyone, or anyone else come from ...

You would think that if God had created more than Adam and Eve or that those two had more children it might be important enough to find it's way into the Bible. Of course if they did have more children than Cain and Abel that still doesn't explain much, unless one was female, and then you're left to assume they were incestuous ...

*Shudder the thought
