this poor girl was literally scared to death.. an absolute shame.. Fearing end of world, girl commits suicide in Madhya Pradesh-India-The Times of India
I havent been able to find the inda news broadcast she was watching.. but im sure it was bias.. why else would this girl go to these lengths.. Quote:
INDORE: A 16-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh allegedly committed suicide after watching news on channels about possibility of the end of earth following the atom-smasher experiment in Geneva that began on Wednesday.
Chhaya, a resident of Sarangpur town in Rajgarh district, consumed sulphos tablets (an insectiside) yesterday, her parents said.
The girl was rushed to Indore's MY Hospital where she succumbed on Wednesday.
Her parents told reporters she was watching about the world's biggest atom-smasher experiment in Geneva on news channels since the last two days following which she got restless and ended her life.

Scientists from The European Organisation for Nuclear Research, known as CERN, are preparing to start a small-scale re-enactment of the "Big Bang" that created the universe. It's experiments are expected to address questions such as what gives matter its mass, why nature prefers matter to anti-matter, and how matter evolved from the first instants of the universe's existence. According to the Philadelphia Metro, the switch was flipped on the Large Hadron Collider, a 178-mile long ring of supercooled magnets embedded 330 feet beneath the Swiss-French border. The machine will smash opposing beams of protons together at a high speed, creating a series of black holes. While the switch was flipped, the first collisions are not expected until October 21.
However, like every good experiment, there are critics and naysayers. One French scientist even launched a court battle last week to prevent the experiment. Why? Because many scientists believe that this experiment will destroy the world. http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=777940 In the past couple of weeks, there have been lawsuits in American and European courts over last-ditch efforts to halt the project, and a flurry of threatening e-mails and telephone calls from worried members of the public who fear the massive machine could cause earthquakes and tsunamis that will destroy the world. http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv...205:46:00%20PM Critics call it the experiment that could cause the end of the world. It is mankind's most ambitious experiment, which seeks to create the moments after the Big Bang, and the birth of the Universe.
Some of the scientists working on the experiment have received threatening emails and been besieged by telephone calls from worried members of the public who fear the machine could cause earthquakes and destroy the world.
Prof Otto Rossler, a German chemist, is one of a group of scientists worried about the creation of black holes. He believes it is possible that the black holes will grow uncontrollably and "eat the planet from the inside".
So....is this another Y2K scare part deux? Or legitimate concern? What do you think? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
